"SO MALIA'S GONE NOW?"

We were wrapped up in one another's arms in his bed, my back against his chest, his sock-clad feet rubbing against my bare calves. His arms rested one around my waist, the other clutched in mine, hugged against my chest. His breath tickled my ear, a sensation so familiar and natural to me, a memory I cherished during my time away. This was it. This was where I belong.

He only nods, a small of guilt settling in from the secret.

"Hey," I rub his arm, distracting him from his self-beratement. "We kept that secret to protect her. You know Peter, and everything he's capable of."

He only nods again, and I know this is a topic he'd prefer to end at the moment.

"So how's Liam handling himself during training?" I switch topic to something I'd been wondering for the past few days since the PSAT incident, during which Scott helped Liam with his newfound wolfiness, while I spent some much needed time with my best friend. While I'm partially chagrined I wasn't helping my own brother, I knew Lydia needed me more than ever since the Meredith incident.

Scott smiles against my shoulder. "Actually better than you made it seem like he was going to. You had me thinking he'd disregard all authority, and tear my room apart, but he's been great. Better than we both were."

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, normally that'd be the case considering he's got a rebellious complex paired with his anger issues and daddy issues-" I get a snort at that. It's beyond daddy issues for the both of us. "- but lucky for you, and unlucky for me, he basically worships you."

Scott let's out a peal of laughter that only increases at my noise of disdain. "I'm serious! All I hear nowadays is Scott this and Scott that." My tone shifts to a mockingly accurate mimic of Liam's voice. " 'Oh, Scott rides a motorbike, that's so cool, I wish I had a motorbike.' 'Today, Scott taught me how to scent specific people, and his scent is so pine fresh. How come my scent isn't pine fresh?' 'Scott works at a Vet clinic, so he's basically a doctor for animals that's sooo cool." I flip around, narrowing my eyes at Scott's laughing expression. "Liam doesn't even like animals. Or pine smells. Or anything without four wheels-" Scott breaks out into an even more hysterical fit of laughter. "I'm serious, Scott, he doesn't even have a bike! Jesus, it's like he found God or something, and took up religion, only instead of Christianity and Jesus, it's McCallism and Scott."

Scott wipes tears from his face, the bastard. "Someone is jealous a certain beta suddenly doesn't kiss the ground she walks on."

"What?!" I squawk indignantly. " I'm not jealous of my little brother's girl crush."
