The woman was trying to tell me something as Sombra guided me towards the exit. I wanted to get some air and clear my head. But life had other plans...
Suddenly I was surrounded by people, reporters, photographers, people with video cameras...
Some police officers got them to back away from me while another informed me of what was happening.
"They want a press conference." He said simply. "There's no way you'll be able to leave them without one."
"There are plenty of ways I could." I said as I let go of Sombra's arm and stood with my full weight on my feet. For a second, I though I was going to collapse, but Sombra's hand on my shoulder kept me from doing so.
"You're not well enough for this."
"No." I said as I moved her arm away. "They need to know the truth." And then in a nervous blur, I found myself standing in front of a large group of people.
"This is all for me? What did I do to deserve this?" I said with a light chuckle but it failed to easy my nerves. "Ah goodness I don't know where to begin..."
A reporter in the front stood. She had shortly cut blond hair and neutral colored make up on her face to keep her from looking pale. Her grey eyes and slight grin told me that what she was about to say was going to shape this conference. I thought this would happen later but might as well get this over with.
"Vivian Braddock correct?" She said and I confirmed.
"That is my name. Had it for awhile now."
She then went on to say the name of both may parents and their company.
"Yes those were my parents." I said as I watched her with an interested look. What does she know...
And then everything was out in the open. Names were called and roles were given and soon she had the whole structure of my parent's organization out into the open air where it would have been so long ago.
"There's just one thing missing, Braddock, and you're the only person alive that could know." She said and I froze. Only? Only means... They can't all be dead. Some of them were good people... "Who was the programmer?"
The silence was crushing. She had this look on her face. One where I could tell she already knew the answer and this was all to send me crashing down. And that's when I recognized who she really was and what this really is about.
"My aren't we clever." I said as I let a relaxed smile cross my face and all my tension left me. "I can see it in your eyes that you already know who it is. Tell them. It won't have the effect you want if I say it."
She looked stunned by my casual nature and acceptance of what was happening. What she didn't know was that I was already planning to put all of that out into the open so God and everyone could hear.
"You sent them to die!" She said bitterly at me. "You were the programmer you monster now tell them everything you've done!"
And I told them everything. How I started, every incident that didn't work in the way I wanted and a few that did. About the time I talked myself out of being arrested and how I fooled the police into thinking I was forced to drive the get away car.
And I told them why I did it. I told them that the reason I never stopped and the reason why I became Tesla Coil was because Vivian Braddock was to scared to tell her parents how she really felt.
"Tesla Coil didn't blow up in that building all those years ago. It was Vivian Braddock. She took the bomb knowing it was going to kill her and keep the business she hated alive. But she also knew her death would make her parents realize that she did everything to make them happy while it slowly killed her."
