"Xiomara! Hora de levantarse! Mateo y Tomas, bajan para lavarse los dientes. (Xiomara! Time to wake up! Mateo and Tomas, come downstairs so you can brush your teeth.)" A motherly voice calls out.
I wake up holding my head, trying to prevent the headache that was threatening to come out.
My name is Xiomara. At least I think it is. Its the name that was given to me.
When I arrived here, I was in strange clothing. They said I looked like the famous warrior, Wonder Woman. Hence, Xiomara. It means famous warrior and well I have a short temper for stupid people.
I walk out only to have to stop in my tracks before a couple of little bodies run me over.
"Mateo! Tomas! Ten cuidado!(Be careful!) Oh good morning, Xiomara." A fatherly voice greets me.
"Good morning Diego." I greet back.
"I'd better go see how I can help Jimena before she goes crazy over the boys." He smiles, sending me a wink.
I smile softly and head to the restroom to brush my own teeth.
When I showed up to this foreign land, I didn't remember who I was so I would roam the streets trying to find a clue. To be honest, I still don't remember. I was homeless, memoryless, and almost without hope when they found me.
Jimena and Diego are a young couple with beautiful male twins named Mateo and Tomas. Jimena was with the boys when one of them run to me. I remember seeing such beautiful innocent eyes that gave me such love that they brightened my own eyes.
Flashback
I don't know how long I've been away. Or from where I've been away from. Despite floating to shore in warrior clothing, the ring on my finger stopped glowing and I changed to a white tank and black cargo pants with matching leather combat boots.
I stare at the ring and mentally pray to whoever that someone somewhere is looking for me.
I close my eyes and hide my head in my hands and just take a breath. It feels like a long while when I feel little hands touch my leg.
I look up to see a little boy with dark brown curly hair. He has beautiful chocolate eyes that light up with his beautiful smile.
"Tomas! Cuantas veces te tengo que decir que tienes que estar donde yo te puedo ver?? (Tomas! How many times do I have to tell you to stay where I can see you?"
I look up to see a woman with kind eyes and a boy on her hip.
The one named Tomas touches my face and I began to tear up at such a kindness.
"Necesitas ayuda? (Do you need help?)" The woman bends up to see my face.
I shrug my shoulders.
"Do you speak English?" She asks. I nod.
"What's your name?" She asks kindly.
"I don't know."
"Do you have someone I can call?" She asks again.
"Not that I know of." I shrug.
"Why don't you come with me?" She stands up and extends her hand.
I look at Tomas and he smiles. I look back at the woman and reach for her hand.
"My name is Jimena. Why don't we see that you are taken care of?" She holds my hand. "Come on Tomas." She calls out and Tomas reaches out for me and they take me to a safe place.
"Hey I like your ring, it makes me think of Wonder Woman." Jimena smiles.
"Who?" I ask, confused.
"Oh she's a famous warrior. Total hero. Well hey, I know you don't remember your name, but I don't want to not have something to call you. How about Xiomara? It means famous warrior." She smiles kindly.
I nod, grateful of the kind woman.
Present
I walk down to the dining room table to see Diego seat the boys and Jimena serve the food.
"Oh hey! Good timing. Breakfast is ready." Jimena smiles.
I sit down next to Jimena and across from Tomas. We eat peacefully as I look around still surprised at the kindness this family has brought me, but something pains me. I look over to see Jimena reaching for Diego's hand and them looking at each other so lovingly.
I miss that feeling. I can't explain it but I know I've had that with someone.
But where are you?
