Chapter Fifteen

‘Hey Julian.’

Right after my lunch with Nathan, way too soon it was time for his meeting with Clay and I decided to take a walk in the streets surrounding the office since Clay never really needs me during the meetings.

‘Sister, is it time for the break down already?’

‘Nope. I was wondering when you would eventually forget that and realize, I am not going to break down!’  I told Julian in determination.

‘Whatever. What’s up?’

‘When are you and Dad travelling to the suburbs?’

‘Um, we haven’t planned it yet, but I guess soon, why?’

‘I have this business trip to Greece and I don’t want to leave you guys alone so I was hoping you would be there at the same time.’

‘Um, last time I checked, we are adults Bells.’

‘Dad is, not you, don’t fool yourself. Anyway can you make there by the weekend?’

‘Wait a minute there. A business trip in Greece?’

 ‘Um yes?’

‘Aren’t business trips are in like, more I don’t know, professional places?’

‘Julian, just when I wonder that you cannot get any dumber you never fail to prove me wrong.’

‘Seriously Isabelle, are you hiding something?’

‘Julian, you can ask Clay. It is a business trip.’

‘Fine, I’ll try telling Dad to go this weekend. He didn’t want to leave you alone so I guess now it’s not really a problem anymore.

‘But one more thing before you hang up. Who’s going on this trip?’

‘Um, Clay and Kesha and a few clients.’

‘Can you mention some of the names of the clients? I am not dumb Isabelle.’

‘Fine, Nathan’s going.’

‘Then you’re not going.’ He said angrily.

‘Seriously Julian? I am not a kid anymore!’

‘Fine fine, tell Dad and tell me who not the kid is anymore. You know Noah will be pissed about this.’

‘But Julian you promised me, we’re keeping this between us for a while.’

‘And you promised him it’s strictly business. I don’t see anything that screams business in a trip to Greece together.’

‘Clay is going to be there! We’re not going to be alone okay? And you know, more than anyone, that there’s never, not in a million years, a chance that I want to be with Nathan again, okay? I need you to trust me Julian.’

‘Fine. But don’t tell Noah about Nathan going with. I don’t want to piss him off.’

‘You know I don’t want that too.’

‘Lately, it seems to me that you do Isabelle.’

‘Bye Julian.’ And I hung up.

It felt like I was a prisoner right now, trapped in a cage, far away from anyone that I love. Said prison is my brain. It’s capturing my all into thinking about the whole Nathan situation.

I have started with the intention of making Nathan go through the same pain that I did while he was gone. But by the looks of it, it seems like I am the one who’s being constantly hurt by being around him. Being with him just reminds me of all the good memories and how incredible I felt back them.
