Sarah Goldstein is a 16 year old girl who is bullied and suffers from depression, much like Eren. She cuts herself with razors on her wrists and thighs when she is upset and spends most of her time at home being yelled at by her parents and writing sad poetry about death, pain, and suicide. Like Eren, Sarah had no friends until they met. She felt that she was hated by everyone and not wanted around. She is bullied by other schoolgirls and sometimes boys. She wants to escape this cruel world of hate and pain somehow. She wishes that things would get better. She is very suicidal.
