          Riiiiiiiinnnngggg!!!!!!
The bell rang, officially ending the school day.
Sarah was gathering her stuff when some preppy girls walked by and 'accidentally' knocked her stuff off of her desk.
"Oops." one of them said. Her name was Caitlyn Evergraze, the leader of the group.
Sarah got on the ground to pick up her stuff, but then was kicked in the face by Caitlyn.
"Oof." was all that Sarah got out before the group of preps laughed and walked away, all flipping their hair at the same time.
Sarah sat up on her knees. Someone knelt down next to her.
"Need help?" he asked gently.
It was Eren, the boy she had let out of a locker and ate lunch with. Her first and only friend. He started gathering her stuff and handing them to her as she put them in her binder. They both got up onto their feet again.
"Thanks." Sarah told him.
Eren shrugged. "No problem. That's what friends are for. Are you okay?"
She nodded. "Yeah."
He's so nice. I wish that there were more people here like him. She thought to herself.
Sarah untied her black hoodie from around her waist amd slipped it on, then pulled her black beanie out of the pocket and put it on.
"See you tomorrow!" Eren told her as he walked by.
"Later." she replied.
As she stepped outside of the school, it started to rain. Sarah didn't put her hood up. She started walking home. As soon as she was about a block away from the school, Sarah tilted her head up at the gray sky, allowing raindrops to land on her pale face. She loved the rain. No one could see her cry.
She didn't hold back. She let the water run from her eyes. She knew that if anyone saw her, they wouldn't notice her tears in the raindrops.
After a while, she realized that she had zoned out and was becoming completely soaked. Her make up was beginning to run down her cheeks.
Sarah also realized that if she didn't get home soon, she was bound to get beat.
         She began running home.

Sarah stepped into her house and barely dodged a flying glass bottle that smashed on the door next to her head. She looked up to see her father standing at the top of the shining brown staircase. Drunk. As always.
"Where the hell were you?!" his voice booming as he thundered down the stairs.
Sarah tried to speak. "I-i, um, er, i-"
Her father grabbed her hair, hard, and slammed her head on the door behind her. He got up in her face. Sarah could smell the scent of vodka and whiskey on his breath as he yelled in her face. She tried to hold back her tears, but failed.
"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?! YOUR A FUCKING MISTAKE!!!! THAT'S ALL YOU ARE!!! A MISTAKE!!!!!" he screamed.
He threw her to the ground. Sarah hit her face on the hardwood floor. She quickly scrambled to her feet, picked up her beanie that had fallen off her head, then ran upstairs to her room.
"I WISH YOU HAD NEVER BEEN BORN!!!" was the last thing her father said before going to the kitchen to grabbed another bottle of alcohol.
Sarah's room was the attic. She shut pulled down the string for the ladder to the attic and climb up. She cried and cried, wobbling over to her old mattress where which she slept. She plopped down on it. She breathed in and out, each breath broken by tears. She could smell the old, musty scent of the mattress. Her thin pillow soon became soaked with liquid drops of sadness, pain, and despair. She didn't care. Sarah cried herself to sleep.

Sarah awoke with sudden fear. She looked around, taking in her surroundings. The memories of earlier flooded into her mind, making her head feel like someone had hit her in the head with a brick. Of course, she knew how that felt.
She turned on her phone, light blinding at first, and checked the time.
          7:37 a.m.
Sarah jumped up. She had only eight minutes to get ready for school!
I must have slept through my alarm. She thought as she slipped a Bring Me The Horizon t-shirt over her head. She slipped on a clean pair of ripped, black leggings. Sarah brushed her hair and brushed her teeth, put on her converse shoes, and grabbed her school bag.
Sarah checked her the time on her phone again.
          7:42 a.m.
          Three minutes remaining!
Kicking down the ladder, Sarah tried to rush. The ladder got stuck as it got halfway down. She didn't care. She had to get to school. She flung herself through the small opening. Sarah cringed as she landed at a bad angle. Some of her cuts reopened. It burned. She tried her best to ignore the searing pain. She had done that to herself and that was the consequence.
Sarah jumped and slammed the attic door shut. She then rushed down the stairs and through the house, practically throwing herself out the front door.
Sarah seemed like a blurry black bolt sprinting down the street at full speed.
She bursted through the school doors, her converse sliding on the slippery tile floor of the hallway. She fell on her knees and immediately got up again and continued her journey to class. She slung herself around corners dodging the students that didn't care if they were late or not.
When she reached her locker, Sarah flung it open and basically ripped her school books out of it. She slammed it shut with a loud BANG!
Sarah ran to class. She flung herself through the classroom doorway, again tripping over her own feet. Students laughed at her clumsiness as she gripped her slightly bleeding wrist.
"Your late, brat." Ms. Darwin stated.
Sarah sat up on her knees and looked at the clock. 7:48 a.m. She was three minutes late. She looked around. All eyes were on her. She panicked. She hated this kind of attention.
Sarah noticed someone walking her way. Eren. He was wearing a black long sleeve t-shirt that had Of Mice & Men on it. One of her favorite bands. He no longer had the gauze on his face from the day before and a large bruise was now visible for her and others to see. It was probably just her that noticed though.
"Here, let me help you up." Eren said as he got down, grabbed her hand and pulled her up.
Sarah tightened her grip on her wrist as more blood began to seep from her cuts.
"Thanks." She told Eren.
"Aww. Look at them. Freaks having a moment." a prep spoke up from their seat.
The teacher interrupted before things went any further. "You two go sit down. NOW. Or detention for both of you."
Sarah and Eren went and sat in their seats. Sarah didn't realize that Eren sat next her in the back of the classroom. Then again, he was trapped in a locker until lunch. That would make sense to why the seat was empty yesterday. She thought that the person had switched seats so that they didn't have to sit by her. Turns out, she gets to sit by her only friend.
Sarah looked at Eren. He was looking at his hand. There were red splotches on it. Blood. Blood from Sarah's wrist.
Eren looked up at her. She looked down at her wrist. Out of the corner of her eye, Sarah saw Eren pulled a black handkerchief out of his pocket and wipe his hand with it. He then turned his focus back to the front of the class.
Sarah, on the other hand, laid her head on her arms, drifting off to sleep.
Until she began feeling something gentle hitting her head. Just as she sat up to look around, something wet stuck to her face. A spitball. She plucked it off her face. She ran her fingers through her hair, removing previous spitballs.
Sarah was in for one hell of a day.
