WITNESS TESTIMONY: IMGON NADIE - MY PERFECTLY PERFECT TESTIMONY

-I was taking a stroll near the duck pond when I ran into the defendant.

-He standing over a pond with blood on his arms and chest.

-He was eating an apple when I saw him. It was like he didn't care that he had just killed somebody!

-I immediately apprehended him and wrapped him in a choke hold until I was able to handcuff him.

-He was completely unharmed when I saw him. The poor victim wasn't strong enough to put up a fight and injure the killer. What a sad, sad end to an existence!

The judge turned to James and I with a deep frown. "This sounds rather incriminating, but I suppose that you have to examine his testimony to align with court procedures," he said. "You may examine Mr. O now."

I nodded. "You have this under control, James?" I asked of him.

James nodded. "I think so. I already found a contradiction in his testimony. We just need to hope that Aiden will be willing to point it out to help us out," he said with a small frown.

CROSS-EXAMINATION: IMGON NADIE - MY PERFECTLY PERFECT TESTIMONY

-I was taking a stroll near the duck pond when I ran into the defendant.

-He standing over a pond with blood on his arms and chest.

-He was eating an apple when I saw him. It was like he didn't care that he had just killed somebody!

-I immediately apprehended him and wrapped him in a choke hold until I was able to handcuff him.

-He was completely unharmed when I saw him. The poor victim wasn't strong enough to put up a fight and injure the killer. What a sad, sad end to an existence!

"OBJECTION!"

James smirked and began to tap his fingers against the defense bench that stood before us. "There was a contradiction in your testimony just now, witness," he said.

"There was?" O asked, frowning. "How so? I thought that my testimony was perfectly perfect."

James shook his head. "I'm afraid not. There's a rather large flaw with that last line of your testimony," he told O.

"How is there a flaw?!" O yelled out angrily. "Where's your evidence about there being a flaw?!"

"My evidence is on the body of somebody in this court. In fact, the evidence we seek can be found on the defendant," I said with a small smirk. "Aiden, if you would please stand up in the center of the court..."

Aiden looked at me in fear before doing as I had instructed. He looked at James, avoiding all eye contact with me. "What do I need to do?" he asked.

James pointed to his ankle. "Roll up your pant leg," he explained.

Aiden frowned but did as he had been told. The duck bite was shown on his ankle for the court to see. "Um... What is so important?" he asked.

"You see, the defendant here has a duck bite on his ankle. This means that the witness was wrong in saying that he was found unharmed," I told the court. "The defendant was harmed, and judging by the size of that bite, it's a pretty obvious wound."

O glared at me with the force of a thousand strong people. "How is that important?" he said angrily. "It's just a tiny little duck bite! There were much more noticeable things on the defendant! How in the world could it possibly matter in the grand scheme of things?"

"This means that your testimony has flaws," I explained. "You claimed to have apprehended the defendant while he was covered in blood. However, if this was really the outfit that he was dragged off to jail in, why did nobody else mention that he was found covered in the blood of the victim?"

"There's one other thing that I feel we need to address," James said. "You see, the defendant here is allergic to apples. He told me so a few years ago. I'm sure that there are even some reports from doctors to prove it. You said that the defendant was eating an apple when he was found at the crime scene, but how is that possible when he's allergic?!"

Aiden slowly raised his hand. The judge looked at him, his eyes piercing for the first time in ages. "Defendant, you may speak," he told Aiden.

Aiden nodded and looked down, trying his best to avoid meeting any of our eyes. "Okay... Uh... I don't know if you guys will believe me since I'm the suspect, but... I ate an apple once when I was a kid. While I was eating it, then I... I kind of had a huge allergic reaction. My throat swelled up and I couldn't breathe. You can check doctor files if you need to," he declared.

"I think that all of this stuff adds up to show that the defendant is innocent... But I think that we should hold this off for a day so that we can investigate more... We still don't know who the victim is on top of that, so..." Niamh said from across the court. She was fidgeting with her braids nervously as she spoke. I could tell she was anxious because everybody was staring at her.

"I suppose that adjourning court for one more day of investigation sounds like a good idea," the judge agreed. He stroked his beard and closed his eyes, thinking this through entirely. "Alright. If there are no objections from the defense team, then court will be adjourned for the day. The trial will continue tomorrow if they agree."

I nodded and began to push all of our papers and files and such together. "Alright. The defense has no objections to this," I declared as I stacked up all of the papers after pushing them together into a messy heap.

"In that case, then court is adjourned for the trial of Aiden Healy!" the judge announced. He picked up his gavel and slammed it down, its sound echoing throughout the court loudly.
