Chapter 16

Alice’s POV

School had started a while back and I was stuck wishing for another holiday again. I had been living with Zach for about a week now, and he has been trying really hard to make the past couple of months up for me, but I just don’t know if I can be bothered with this relationship anymore.

“Hi. Mind if I sit here.” I looked up and into Nikki’s face; she was pulling the chair that was next to me. I shrugged.

“Do whatever the hell you want.” I said. She shrugged and sat down next to me.

“I’m sorry for everything.” She whispered, her big brown eyes were tearing up, but I just shrugged.

“Okay fine, I’ll forgive you because I really can’t be arsed with your drama today.” I grumbled.

“What’s up?” She asked, I laughed.

“You really think I’m going to tell you. Last time I trusted you I got it thrown back in my face.”  She sighed.

“I know and I really am sorry. It’s just you’re not the same anymore. You never speak or smile. Everyone is worried about you, I’m worried about you.” I just sat there, not saying anything. I don’t want her worry or pity. I wanted nothing to do with her, she hurt me once and I wasn’t going to let her hurt me again.

The bell rang signalling the end of the lesson; I jumped up and got my bag. Thank god it was the end of the day; I left the school and noticed Zach leaning against his car. He hadn’t noticed me yet, so I quickly hid behind a wall. I pulled out m phone and quickly sent him a message.

Hey, I’m staying back at school tonight, so I’ll be heading to your house later on. Alice x

I peeked out from behind the wall, and saw Zach pull out his phone. He placed his phone back in his pocket, got in his car and drove away. I sighed with relief. I know it’s bad to lie to your boyfriend but I really couldn’t be bothered with him today. I rubbed my head and came out from behind the wall, bumping into some as I did.

“Sorry.” I mumbled. I looked up and into Marie’s face. Oh yeah, I forgot she started at this school. I smiled at her, but she just frowned at me.

“I was hoping I would see you. You and I need to talk.” She grabbed my hand and dragged me along, to the nearest café. She shoved me into a chair and sat opposite me.

“Do you have to be so rough?” I asked, rubbing me wrist. She shrugged.

“Sorry.”

“So what do you need to talk to me about?”

“Kyle.” I froze. I really didn’t want to hear his name anytime soon.

“What about him.”

“Ever since you left, he hasn’t been the same. All he does is sulk in his room. He doesn’t talk to anyone r do anything and I’ve spoken to your friends apparently all you do id sulk as well.”

“I’m not sulking over that idiot!” I defended.

She raised her eyebrow. “Oh really, when was the last time you hung out with your friends.” I thought back.

“Well, I’ve been really busy lately…” I started; she chuckled and shook her head.

“Great excuse but come one, you’re missing him, and he is missing you. Just talk to him please.”

“Why should I go crawling back to him? I did nothing wrong!” I complained.

“You abandoned him for your arse of a boyfriend.” I opened my mouth to complain but she cut me off. “I’m not sticking up for him! You both messed up, but he isn’t going to come to you his ego is far too big for that, so you need to do the grown up thing and talk to him.”
