Chapter 7
"What's that on your head?" Imogen asked. I played with my fringe.
"Oh, it just a little bruise." I said. Yeah, I little bruise that will not be covered, no matter how much make up I had on.
"How on earth did you did you get that?" Brook asked, moving my fringe to get a better look.
"Er, Tanya and I had a fight?" I said, it sounded more like a question, but luckily the gang didn't notice.
"But, you and Tanya never fight. You barely argue." Jake said, looking confused.
"Er, well there's a first time for everything." I muttered, looking away. I hated to lie to my friends, but this was easier then explaining the full story.
"Hmm, well she is stronger than she looks." Jake said, there was something in is voice that I didn't understand.
"What were you two fighting about?" Magenta asked. I froze. Shit, before I opened my mouth the bell rang. I breathed out in relief, before grabbing my bag and rushing into the school. Before heading into my form room, i felt some grabbed on to my arm and tug me into a empty classroom.
"What the hell Jake?" I asked him. " If yo wanted to talk you could have just asked." He didn't reply and stepped towards me.
"You trust me right?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yeah, I trust all of you guys."
"Then why are you lying." He said, his face was soft. I felt my heart pace quickened.
"L..lying" I stuttered. "I'm not lying..." I looked away from his eyes.
"Al, I've been you're friend for six years, I know when your lying." I felt my eyes filling up, but I blinked them back.
"I'm not lying." I repeated, my voice broke at the end of the sentence.
"Tanya is ten years old, she can't hit that hard. I can't even hit that hard and I'm sixteen."
"Fine! I walked into a lamp post... I er..didn't want to tell you in case you laughed." I tried again, but Jake shook his head.
"I would like the truth Alice. I won't tell anyone not even the rest of he gang.! He spoke softly, lifting my head up. I could fee the tears running down my cheeks.
"I can't tell you." I whispered.
"Why?"
"Because, you'll get mad." I whispered.
"Alice, if don't tell me I'll assume I'm right about my hunch and I may do something stupid." He explained. I frowned.
"What's your hunch." I asked, I saw Jake's features harden.
"Zach." He muttered, I instantly dropped my head.
"He wouldn't do that." I muttered looking at my shoes.
"Alice, please tell me." I sighed.
"Promise you won't tell anyone, that it won't leave this room and that you won't do anything stupid." I told him.
"I promise." I heard the bell go for first lesson so I turned to walk out the door.
"You'r hunch is right." I said before running away. I ran to first lesson and collapsed in my seat. Why did I tell him? Oh god, I am so dead. If Zach finds out I told someone I'm dead. I shook my head trying to clear the thoughts. I placed my head on the table and stayed like that until I heard the teacher address me.
