Morgan's POV

We could all hear the thousands of fans from the stadium inside the tunnel. The drums beating and the USA chants boomed, which made the atmosphere electric.

I was getting really hot in my jacket as  we're all waiting in this crowded area. It was very loud from all the talking, with people trying to assess and direct others. I unzip my jacket and start fanning myself. I'm starting to sweat and we're not even on the field yet.

I hear conversations all around me in both English and Portuguese, but all I could focus on was Andressa and the game. My mind was clouded in all these thoughts that I just couldn't get rid of and I'm scared that seeing Andressa on the opposite end of the field will affect my play.

The Brazilian Team were standing and waiting next to us and we had the little kids by oursides, getting ready. The four officials were still in discussion which made me think that I'd have at least five minutes to spare before we had to start walking out.

"I'll be right back honey, okay?" I bend down to the little girl who I'm going to be escorting. She nods her head and I let go of her hand.

Since I was #6 and Andressa was #17, I was all the way in the front of my line while she was in the back for her line. I turn around and see her talking to one of her teammates.

I give Kealia a wink before I make my way to the end of the line, back over to the small midfielder. I push past some staff members who were trying to walk out the tunnel and I could see some confusion from my teammates' faces.

I haven't been able to see Andressa since that morning we got coffee because of our tight schedules. That morning didn't end the way I wanted it to between the both of us. It was all on my part and from the way she responded to my texts the past two days, which were unusually short responses, I knew she was still upset. I don't blame her though because i'm a total ass.

I wasn't going to let that prevent me from seeing her before kickoff because for the past two days, all I've been wanting is to finally talk to her in person again. Even if she's still upset and didn't want to see me right now, I was still going to wish my girlfriend a good game whether she liked it or not.

The moment she sees me approaching her, she makes her small trademark smile and I open my arms up to her.

She pulls into my embrace and hugs me tightly; all I wanted to do was shower her with kisses. The world around me melted away as I squeezed her back, not wanting the moment to end. All the loud chaos around me seemed to stop and time froze. Out of the 30,000+ people in the stadium, I felt as if it was only the two of us here.

"You deserve so much more," I whisper in her ear, my voice shaking.

She doesn't say anything but we pull away and I couldn't help myself but plant a quick, small kiss on her lips. I put my warm hands on her cheeks, cupping her face.

"Good luck out there okay?" I say as I was backing away from her.

"Wait," Andressa holds on to my arm and gives me a painful look. She looks down on her shoes and then back up at me,"I love you."

Beatriz, #16 for Brazil, pats me on the back and gives me a comforting smile as she observes the exchange between Andy and I.

"I love you too," I reply as my breathing was getting uneven. She made me feel a certain way that made me go haywire and right now isn't the time to get all flustered, especially before a game.

"Excuse me ma'am, we're going to have to ask you to go back to where you were. We are just about to head out."

The official in yellow stood there and waited for me to move, so I gave Andressa one more look before I walked back to the front of our line.
