I wake up guilty. Sarah is right. I have to forget the two boys and go for Ryan. He's my best friend. I call Sarah and tell her my decision.
"Sarah, sorry if I woke you up, but I think I'm going for Ryan," I say with my stomach doing flips.
"Look Adelynn, Ryan thinks that you guys are dating now. You can't go back with those guys Ad. I'm sorry that this will be tough and all, but please trust me," Sarah says nonchalantly. I breathe and hang up. Ryan. The name lingers through my mind and I decided to ready myself for school. Only a week left.
I pick out a pair of white shorts, a navy top with anchors all over it and some red toms. I curl my long brown hair and go downstairs to eat.
The bus arrives at a quarter to eight like usual. I hop on the bus and find Ryan. Now's my chance to fix this problem.
"Hey Ry," I say hugging him as I sit down in the seat.
"Hey Ad. You look pretty today," Ryan says playing with my curls. It gives me chills. I stare out the window and watch the beachside and glance at the palm trees. Ryan breaks the ice with a question.
"So, are you going to the beach party next week? Everyone in grade eleven is invited," Ryan asks me while looking into my eyes. I forgot! Sarah mentioned something about that a couple days ago. I looked down and smiled. An opportunity to connect with Ryan!
"I'm thinking of bringing Kayla with me," Ryan says in a dreamily toned voice. Fuck. More like Kayla, she'll play ya. I smirked at my little slogan. Why in the fuck would Ryan ditch me for Kayla? Christ! So that's how he wanted to play this game. I'll show him.
"Kayla, she's nice," I say lieing. Ryan smiles and I don't talk to him for the rest of the way to school.
I wake up the next day and notice no texts from Ryan. I still have another option. I could go for Hayden and Brent. I smiled to myself. One more fucking day and then all of this bullshit would be finished. Ryan would be out of my head, because I could be scrimmaging with not one, but two hot guys at the beach. I got up and walked to my closet. This time, I picked out a pair of baby blue high waisted shorts and an eyelet lace tank top. I paired it with white toms. I straightened my hair and applied winged liner and a berry lip balm. I went to eat breakfast then decided to get a drive to school instead of being awkward around Ryan.
I sit with Sarah at lunch. I chose to eat a greek salad with a chocolate milk to drink.
"So you ditched Ryan?" Sarah says. Yes, yes I did.
"Yeah, I couldn't bare the fact that he was being an ass. He invited Kayla to go to the party instead of me," I say gritting my teeth. I was dissapointed.
"That sucks," Sarah says eating her hamburger. "Wait. Is that- oh my. Shit," Sarah whispers. I turn to look behind me and Ryan's kissing Kayla. What a great fucking last day of school. FUCK.
