Dan and Phil stayed up until midnight watching anime. They finished just about every snack in the house, laughing and talking along with the shows on. Their personalities mixed so well, there wasn't a moment of awkward silence.

From Death Note to Black Butler, they recited lines and acted out fighting scenes. Dan tackled Phil playfully.

"Phil I think-uh- I think you're bleeding"
Phil looked down to his shirt. It was true, a red stain was forming on his shirt, growing as more blood leaked out.

Dan got off of Phil and helped him up. "I'll be right back." Phil went to the the bathroom and took of his shirt. He looked in the mirror. Like every day, he was disappointing with what he saw.

His very pale skin made every scratch and bruise extremely noticeable. He winced as he touched the scratch that was bleeding. Truthfully, he didn't even know where it came from. He's been through so much trauma that he couldn't even keep track anymore.

There were blue, purple, and yellow bruises all over his torso, chest, and thighs. His eyes watered as he looked at all the damage.

What he hated most were the burns. They were blistering, the old ones dark patches in his skin. They hurt all the time. By now, tears were steaming down his face as he thought and thought about everything. He couldn't help but cry every time he thought about his situation.

Then he remembered Dan, who was waiting for him. He didn't want to keep his new friend waiting.

He quickly rubbed the tears out of his eyes and put bandages over his cut. He changed his shirt and went back out.

"You okay?" Dan asked when Phil got back.

"Yeah. I just reopened a cut I had."

"Well how'd you get the cut?"

Phil didn't expect that question, he was used to Dan being uninterested in everything. "Oh, you know. Just happened."

"Nothing 'just happens'. C'mon Phil what happened? Tell me tell me tell meee-"

"It's nothing Dan. Lay off." Phil snapped.

Dan was taken back. He's never seen Phil snappy like that.

"Dan I'm sorry." Phil said desperately.

"No, no. It's fine I need to go. My parents don't know where I am." Dan mumbled, gathering his stuff quickly.

"Dan you don't have to go. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that." Phil begged

"It's fine. I obviously annoy you. Bye Phil, thanks for the food." Dan left Phil in his room and let himself out.

Dan was reading too much into it, but that's just how he was. Phil, of course, thought he did something wrong. Close to tears for the second time that night, Phil went to bed.
