Ava was running down the stairs. We ran out of the house. "Get in front and lead the way."

I started running faster to get in front of her. I led her behind the house across the street, through the yard and into the yard at our house. We ran up to the back porch. I kicked the door open. I heard the other door being kicked open. I ran through the kitchen with Ava behind me.

When we got the family room, there was a girl standing with a gun in hand. She had long dark brown hair tied up in a messy bun. She had a black tee with a green vest and dark brown shorts that went half way down her thighs. She had tall, black combat boots.

I grabbed my gun. Ava smacked my hand down.

"Ava, who is this?" The girl asked.

"This is Carl. The guy that I told you about in my dreams. Carl, this is Gracie." Ava motioned to her.

"Carl?" I heard a voice behind me. We turned around and saw my dad and Michonne standing at the top of the stairs. "What's going on?"

"Wait, he's real? Carl's real?" Gracie asked in disbelief.

"Yes he's real. He's standing right here," Ava snapped back.

"Who are these people?" Michonne asked.

"Uugghh, I'll explain later. But we need to get back to Mia." I wanted Ava to like me so I knew thinking of Mia would help with that. Plus, I actually was concerned.

"You left her alone?!" Gracie exclaimed.

"She has a gun, and we closed the doors," Ava reassured her. Ava, Gracie, and I started going to the back door.

"Wait right there Carl!" My dad yelled at me.

"I'm so sorry Mr. Carl's Dad, but I need to get to my sister. Just go out the back door. Cut through the neighbor's yard and we are in the light blue house across the street," Ava said as we were walking out the door.

We got to the front of the house when Gracie stopped us. "So you're telling me that you just found the guy in your dreams?"

"Yes," Ava said. "Also, he was having the same dreams. On the same nights."

"That doesn't make any sense!" Gracie exclaimed.

"It's fate, Ava said quickly. "Fate doesn't need to make sense. It's just that, fate."

"Whatever. Let's just get to Mia," Gracie sighed as she opened the door.

Ava ran immediatly up the stairs. I followed and saw Ava hugging Mia in the doorway.

"Don't leave me again! You scared me so freaking much," Mia said as she was crying.

"I won't," Ava said as she let go of Mia. "Pinky promise?"

Mia nodded. "Pinky promise." They interlocked their pinkies and smiled at each other.

Gracie came up the stairs. She stopped next to me and asked, "How did you find her?"

"My dad and I took the house you had just entered. I went looking for food. Went into your house, and found Ava." I lied about going out just for food. I did look for food, but so that I could leave my dad.

"But how did you know her?" She still seemed confused.

"Gracie," Ava started, "it's not time for a million questions. We'll have to explain it again anyways when his dad gets over here."

Just then we heard someone open the front door. "Carl?" I heard someone whisper. I looked down the stairs and saw my dad and Michonne standing at the bottom of the stairs. "Mind telling us what the hell is going on?"

"C'mon, let's get to explaining," I said. I motioned for Ava, Mia, and Gracie to follow me. We walked down into the family room and sat down.

Ava and I looked at each other. We started saying, together, "Well, it all started with a dream..."
