Is She There?

Crrrrreeeaaak! I slowly opened the front door and peaked my head through the crack. I didn't see any walkers. I opened it a little wider and motioned for Michonne to come. The house reeked of death.

"I'll go in the kitchen. You check the garage," Michonne said to me. I nodded in agreement.

I turned down the hall. The door to the garage was locked. "Damn it," I whispered to myself. I looked around for a place where the key may be. I went into the kitchen and found a key holder. There was a slot labeled 'garage'. I took the key and went back to open the door.

Once again, I slowly opened the door to check for walkers. I didn't see any, but I saw a girl. She turned around. It was Ava. I couldn't believe my eyes. "Hello," I said to her quietly. I started walking towards her. She started walking towards me.

Just as we were about to meet, I heard Michonne yell, "Carl! What are you doing?"

As she said that, I realized that wasn't Ava. It was a walker. "Oh shit!" I yelled. I quickly grabbed my knife and stabbed it in the head.

"What the hell was that?" Michonne asked me as she was walking towards me.

"I don't know." I can't explain it to her. She'll think I'm insane.

"Don't become pyshco like your dad. You need to be strong for him," she said as she was looking around.

I knew she was right. I had to be strong for my dad. I couldn't loose it like him. I just needed to block out Ava. "Did you find anything in the kitchen?" I asked.

"We hit the jackpot. Canned goods, snack foods, water, juices, and even some junk food. There was a whole drawer of candy." She seemed really happy. "Did you look in here?"

"Not yet," I said feeling guilty.

"Well, there isn't much," Michonne said looking around. "Let's fill up our bags in the kitchen and then we can go back."

"Sounds good," I replied. When I walked into the kitchen, she had most of it on the counter. There was so much food. "Holy crap! You're right. I guess we were the first ones here."

"We got lucky. Now lets get this back to your dad." We put everything we could fit in our three bags. Luckily, everything barely fit.

"Let's go," I said to Michonne. She started walking to the door. I turned around to do one last check. I saw something left on the counter. I quickly ran back to grab it. I didn't know what it was, but maybe it was something my dad would eat.

We walked into our house to find my dad sleeping on the couch. I went to wake him up, but Michonne stopped me. She shook her head no. I leaned over his chest just to make sure he was still alive. I heard his heart beat.

I followed Michonne into the kitchen and we started organizing all of the stuff. I took another look at the thing I picked up. It was a giant can of chocolate pudding. "Are we allowed to claim one thing that is just ours?" I asked, hoping she would say yes.

"You want that pudding, don't you?" She gave me a weird look.

"Kind of," I said quietly.

"It's fine," she said. "Plus, I want the stale M&M's." We both laughed.

"When should we wake him up?" I asked. I was scared he went into another coma or something. Or that he may actually be dead.

"If he dosn't wake up before dusk. It looks to be about four o'clock." Michonne was looking up out the window. "Dusk should be in about an hour and a half to two hours."

"Okay," I replied. I was scared for him. I grabbed the pudding and went to my room. I closed the door and opened the window. I sat at the edge of the roof and opened the pudding. It tasted so good.

"I can't eat it all," I whispered to myself. I may never be able to find some again. When I had eaten about half of the can, I felt like I was going to vomit. I closed the can and went back in my room. I set the pudding down on the end table and layed down for a quick nap. Before I knew it, I was sound asleep.
