It was horrifying.

The place that I once called home was destroyed. Obliterated. Gone. I felt a lump in my throat.

"I don't want to go near there," I quickly said to my dad.

"It's okay. How about you Ava, Gracie, and Mia go look for food?" He said pointing away from the prison.

"You trust us," Ava said curiously.

My dad chuckled. "I know I can trust Gracie,"

"You know you can't deny it," Gracie said as she walked up to us.

Gracie got Mia and we headed to the woods. "What are we doing anyway?" Mia asked.

"Looking for food, supplies, people," I replied.

Ava gasped. "I found people! I found us!"

Gracie gave her a look. "Really?"

Ava smirked. "Just trying to lighten the mood."

We had been walking for about 15 minutes when Mia asked, "Can I go back?"

"No," Ava snapped.

Gracie smacked Ava's shoulder playfully. "Lighten up a little. She's got a gun and a knife. You can't just keep her in a bubble."

Ava sighed. "Fine, go back. Just keep going back the way we came and tell the others we'll be back soon."

I stopped and looked back to make sure she was going the right way. After a minute we continued going through the woods.

Ava kept looking down. "I don't feel right."

I was concerned. "What doesn't feel right? Do you feel sick or tired?"

She shook her head. "No, I just don't think I should have let Mia go.''

"Let it go Ava. She'll be fine." Gracie said.

Ava slapped her. "You know how she acts around those things."

Gracie slapped her back. "That's because she had us protecting her. She would be fine on her own."

Ava slapped her again. "You don't know that!"

"Okay you two, calm down." I interrupted. "I've learned that you two can be very violent."

"Carl's right," Gracie said calmly. "We need to keep looking."

"He is right," Ava replied. "He is also right about us being violent."

Gracie giggled. "Well you need to be in this world."

"AVA! HELP! SHE'S ATTACKING ME! AVA! SOMEONE! PLEASE HELP!"

"MIA!' Ava jolted back towards the prison.

"IT CAME FROM THAT WAY!" Gracie yelled and pointed east. Ava looked back and started running east.

"MIA! MIA WHERE ARE YOU?" Ava kept yelling but we got no reply. Ava was really far ahead of me and Gracie.

We saw a clearing ahead of us. Ava was just standing in shock. Gracie and I ran up to her. She had a look of fear in her face. I couldn't believe what was right in front of us.

Mia's body covered in blood with a bloody knife next to her. There wasn't a walker in sight.
