Chapter Eight
I was overcome with the scent of sweaty bodies and alcohol, people pressing in tight all around me as they noticed the leading frat boys returning home. Screams erupted, joints were offered, and drinks were put into our hands. I clung tightly to Zayn’s, hoping that I wouldn’t get sucked into the party too soon. I needed a few drinks in me first.
We squeezed into the kitchen were the room was less dense with people and the bass didn’t thump as much. Zayn and Liam turned to me, giving me a look that was full of fun and the party eyes. I just gave them a look that said ‘well…go have your fun’. They smiled at me, Liam reaching behind him for a beer bottle, handing it to me and kissing my cheek. “We’ll be back!” He said, and I nodded, pulling the top off. I took a sip, looking around for people I knew.
"Well look who it is!" I heard Pete say, then his arm around my shoulders. I turned to look at him, smiling, but it faltered when I saw his expression change. "What?" I asked, because his mouth was hanging open, his eyebrows risen. "Holy shit, babe, you look sexy!” He said, scanning my body. “Thanks, hun, but my face is up here.” I said, lifting his chin. He just shook his head. “Damn. Well, what do you say we go find your party?” I frowned, and my eyebrows pulled together, but Pete was grinning. “This is my party?” He gave me an amused look. “Well, yeah. It’s for you, Lou put it together. For you and your band. Which should be arriving any second.” He said, and my eyes widened. “Oh fuck, are you sure I look alright?” I asked, fixing my hair as much as I could. He gave me a funny look, nodding. “Yeah…” “I need the bathroom.” I said, and he rolled his eyes. “Okay. Come on.” He said, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the stairs. I followed behind him, the noise fading behind us. He walked us down a hallway, pushing open the door, and I sighed in relief when there wasn’t a couple banging against the shower wall.
I leaned over the sink, handing him my beer, which he took a gulp of. I touched up on my eyeliner, making sure my hair was okay and no pieces were sticking up anywhere. “I commend you ladies for making sure you look perfect for a college party.” He said, gulping down more of my beer. “It’s not just any college party, Ashton will be here. And stop drinking my beer, you ass!” I said, pushing him backwards and grabbing my drink. He laughed, and I rolled my eyes, smiling. “Shall we?” I asked, holding out my arm. “We shall.” He replied, taking it and walking down the stairs with me. As soon as we made it down-and I had to fix my boobs because the dumbass started pulling on my shirt-the crowd erupted into cheers and screaming.
"Oh fuck, what the hell?" I asked, shrinking back into Pete. "I think that your boys are here." He smiled down at me, and I felt my eyes widen. Sure enough, the crowd parted, and four boys walked in, smiling and pumping up the crowd. Pete and I were still on the steps, so I had a perfect view of Ashton as he fist bumped a guy and then pulled him into a hug. The song turned over, the tables scratched, and then the volume went up. I caught the eye of Ashton, who did a double take to look at me, a smirk breaking out over his face, one of his lovely green eyes winking at me before he disappeared behind the others into the kitchen. "Come on, Niall told me to get you to the turn-tables." He said, and I nodded, following after him through the crowd of dancing people to the DJ’s booth, where the normal guy were hanging. They let me pass after Mikey said hello, and I stepped into the closed box to see Niall with the beats pressed to his ear, scanning through his laptop with weird pictures all over it from all of the music levels. "Hey, man." Pete said, clapping him on the back. Niall turned, doing his complicated hand-shake thing with Pete before he saw me standing to the side. He smirked, then said something low to Pete. Pete gave him a look, a laugh, and then he walked past me, ruffling my hair, taking my beer.
I was going to protest, but Niall was suddenly in front of me, his hands on my hips as he walked me back into the wall, a gasp leaving my lips. He was suddenly extremely close, his hips pressing into my own, his broad chest rising and fall against mine. “So…I wanted you here so that I could tell you my one rule for tonight.” He said, his voice low and husky in my ear as he leaned forward. He twirled a strand of my blonde hair around his finger, his warm breath hitting my skin. “W-what’s that?” I asked, cursing myself for getting flustered. I should be pushing him backwards…should.
