Chapter Ten

Luckily I didn’t have any more classes with Niall for the rest of the week, so it was smooth sailing all the way through. I had recieved a good grade on my photography paper, and soon enough Thursday rolled around and Pete was ringing my cell phone at 5: 30 in the morning. “Hey, I borrowed my friends’ car for the day so we can go to the beach. Wake up, butter cup.” He sounded half-asleep himself, like he just woke up. “Uhm, okay. I’ll be outside in fifteen minutes.” I grumbled, and he chuckled before agreeing and hanging up.

I stumbled out of bed, using my phone for light because I was up at the ass-crack of dawn and I couldn’t see anything. I pulled on a bathing suit under my shorts and t-shirt after I brushed my teeth, throwing a towel, sunscreen, car charger, spray conditioner, brush, vans, and money into a bag before sliding on my flip-flops and grabbing my board. When I made it outside, silently closing the door so none of the girls woke up, Pete was working on getting the boards on top of the silver Mazda, literally looking like he just rolled out of bed. I laughed before climbing on the other side and helping him, tie them down. “Morning. Aren’t you ready for this wonderfully awesome day with the most amazing guy on the planet?” He asked, but interrupted himself halfway through with a yawn. I laughed and shook my head. “No. Not until I get caffeine in me.” I said, and he hummed in agreement with me. When we finished tying the boards, we climbed into the car and headed down the road.

"So how did you sleep?" Pete asked, and I shrugged. "I slept alright. Could have slept longer if it wasn’t for surfing." I said, and he laughed. "Well you didn’t have to go…" He teased. "Yes I did! I miss spending time with my Petey." I said, and he rolled his eyes, but he had a fond smile on his face. "Okay, whatever. Do you want Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts?" He asked, and I shot him a look. "Is that a literal question?" He sighed, mockingly. "I’m getting really tired of you sassing me." "Well then deal with it." I said, and he mumbled something unintelligible. After we got our coffees, we were finally on the highway headed toward the beach. I plugged in my iPod, and—after fighting over the music—put on some 5 Seconds of Summer.

"So…do you remember anything from your party thing?" He asked. I sighed, because I remembered quite well. "Yes…I remember everything. Why?" "So, you remember bouncing from Niall to Ashton and then back to Niall?" I shook my head, putting my face in my hands. "Ugh, don’t remind me." He chuckled. "I mean, it wasn’t that bad. Like, I don’t blame you." He said, and my head whipped up to look at him. "What?!" His eyes were concealed by his sunglasses, but I could see a faint blush on his cheeks. "Well, yeah. I mean, they’re both hot." My jaw dropped. "Pete!! Are you just now coming out to me?" I asked, and he gave me a funny look. "I thought you would freak out because of the fact, not that it took me this long." He admitted. "Never! I mean, it’s a little shocking, but it’s not like it’s the end of the world. But I can’t believe you let me kiss you and now this?" I said, and he laughed. "Okay first off, that kiss was genuine. I’m bisexual, not homosexual." "Only half homosexual." I interrupted, and he put his hand over my mouth. "Shut up. And second, everyone pretty much knows it, that’s why no one freaked out. However," He got serious. "Do not tell any of the guys I find them hot. That is a no-no. Only a few will freak, but I’d rather avoid it." He said. I shrugged. "My lips are sealed. But even if they do freak, they obviously can’t take a compliment and you shouldn’t worry about them anyways." I said, bringing my feet up on to the seat with me. "This is why we all love you, Charley." He said after a minute.

Finally we arrived at the empty beach, and we got ready by the car, which basically consisted of putting on sunscreen and pulling off clothes. I put on a rash protector from the reefs so that only my top half was covered before grabbing my board from the top of the car. Pete and I made our way down to the water, racing each other and laughing like little kids. “Okay, so I only have one rule!” He said, and I turned to look at him with my eyebrows raised. “Have fun!” He finished. I snorted, then waded out in the water with him following. We both paddled out a good distance away from each other.
