I managed to track down a few more of my teachers and explain myself. None of them seemed to really give a crap whether or not I passed or failed but agreed to let me make up my assignments.
I then spent the rest of the night in the basement so I could be alone. I needed to actually focus. The faster I got this finished the faster I could get back on track. And the faster I could spend the weekend with CeCe.
I heard footsteps at the top of the stairs and leaned back in my chair. I never had an issue being alone before. Around here I couldn't get five minutes.
"I hope I'm not interrupting I just thought you might like some dinner." Ann said softly.
I could tell she wasn't angry anymore. I finally got back on her good side.
"Thank you." I said as she sat the plate on the side table.
"I'm glad your trying to straighten your mess back out but I don't want you to make a habit of it. I understand you've had to deal with a lot of change very quickly but that's not a good enough excuse."
I nodded. She was right and I knew it.
"Here." she said handing me a cell phone.
I must have looked confused because she proceeded to explain.
"Next time you need to stay after school call me or Michael. It doesn't have a lot of minutes. You'll have to pay for more if you want to use it for anything else."
I nodded again and smiled at her. She went back up stairs and shut the door behind her. I was happy she wasn't angry anymore. Maybe the entire house would go back to how it was when I first got here.
I decided to take a break and eat the food Ann brought down. I noticed my drink was empty so I went up to the kitchen to refill it. I hoped dinner was over so I didn't have to deal with everyone. I would fix whatever relationships I had after I fixed the problem with my school work.
I was unlucky in my wishing though. CeCe was at the sink washing the dishes leftover from dinner. I tried to sneak past her but she has eyes in the back of her head.
"Do you want some help?" She asked without even turning around.
"No I can handle pouring a drink." I sarcastically.
"I meant with your assignments. I've already done them all. I have all the answers."
It had never occurred to me that CeCe is in most of my classes. Could I really cheat off her though?
"I should probably do them myself."
"Suit yourself but it's going to take you all weekend."
"I know."
I finished getting my drink and started walking towards the basement.
"Do you want to hang out for a little bit before you get back to work?" She asked turning the sink off.
I knew what she meant. She didn't want to be up here by herself. I looked at the clock on the microwave. It was seven thirty. I think as long as I got back to work by nine I could get it all done.
"Okay." I said continuing to go back to the basement.
CeCe followed me quietly and sat on the opposite side of the couch.
We sat in an awkward silence while I ate. Once I had finished I sat my plate down and gave into my curiosity.
"What's going on with you and Oli?" I asked turning to her.
