Your POV

"Come on (y/n), the water is nice!" I watched my life long best friend call to me, as he swam towards the deep end of the neighbourhood pool.
"Coming, Haru!" I jumped in and swam over to him, not caring that my (h/t), (h/c) hair was getting wet.
"Race you to the shallow end and then back." Haru taunted me.
"Oh you're on!" I replied.
"Three, two, one.... GO!" We both pushed off the pool wall and began swimming. I was doing breaststrokes but I couldn't really tell what Haru was doing. Easily, he passed me and was already heading back to the deep end. I finally hit the wall and pushed off going back towards the deep end. As I touched the wall, I lifted my face out of the water to see Haru smiling while sitting on the pool deck.
"Wow, you've really improved (y/n)."
"Are you sure it's not the other way around?"
"Both of us improved." He offered his hand to me and I took it, helping me get to out.
"Thanks. Anyways, it's getting late, lets go back." I suggested.
"Yeah I'm getting hungry."

Haru and I walked along the road to get to our houses about three minutes away. We were both ten years old at this time and we've been friends for... ten years! Basically our mothers both were friends and got pregnant around the same time except he was born on June 30th and I was born on (your bday). Apparently when we were babies we always loved being around each other and as toddlers we'd always play together and now here we are, best friends of ten years. We always had each other's backs no matter what. If he was in detention, I was in detention.

"Goodnight Haru, goodnight Mr and Mrs Nanase!" I waved to them along with my parents. The Nanase's came over to have dinner with us, which is usually on Sunday's, once a month and it would be held either at our house or Haru's house.
"Goodnight!" They all wave back.
"Alright (y/n), bedtime." My mom said as she closed the door.
"Okay, goodnight mom and dad."
"Goodnight sweetie." They both kiss my forehead and I went upstairs and get ready for bed.

Okay, so the first few chapters are gonna be background detail but they will get interesting. Also do not worry, you're not going to be a bunch of 10 year olds for this story, like I said, this is just background information (hence to why the chapter is so short). Idk how much it will affect the current story but yeah. Thanks for reading! :)
