~ Time skip: After Christmas break ~
Haru's POV
I had (y/n)'s present in my back pocket. I searched for her at lunch. In the cafeteria she was sitting beside Sosuke, his arm was around her. Then I noticed something around her neck... There sat an expensive looking necklace.
Rage built up in me and I walked out of he cafeteria, it's not like she would care anyway.~ 1 month time skip ~
Competition was coming up in a few days.
I haven't spoken to (y/n) since Christmas... It was almost like she was avoiding me.
I saw her walking down the hall with shit face- I mean Sosuke. I noticed her eye was a little swollen. No one else would notice, but seeing her face for basically my entire life I could spot the differences. Speaking of her eyes, there was a lot of fear and sadness in them, she wasn't her usual happy and cheerful self... Is he hurting her?It was after school and I saw (y/n) walking by herself in an empty hallway. Perfect.
I quickly made my way to her and grabbed her arm gently.
She gasped. "H-Haru? W-what are you doing?"
"What did he do to you?"
"Nothing."
"(Y/n), stop lying." My grasp got slightly tighter.
"Ouch. H-Haru you're hurting me."
Okay, she does not have a low pain tolerance. I rolled up her sleeve and saw huge bruise on her arm. "What the hell did he do to you!?" I was angrier and my voice raised.
"N-nothing!" She pushed me off, "You're being so nosy, just leave me alone, Haruka!"
H-Haruka? She's never called me that in ages...
"What the hell is going on here?" That damn voice... Sosuke. "Leave her alone man." He pushed me against the wall.
"Fuck off." I fanned him off and stormed out of the school. I skipped practice and went home. My team tried calling and texting me. They left fifty messages asking about my location. I was at home, trying to calm down. My parents called me but I never answered to them either. The next morning, I woke up on the ground. My knuckles were stained in dry blood because I punched a hole in the wall...
My phone rang once again, it was Makoto.
I picked it up finally and answered, "Hello?"
"What the hell, Haru? You know competition is tomorrow. Why would you just skip out on practice and not even tell anyone, we thought you were dead or something. If you didn't answer this call I was gonna send the cops to your house."
"I'm sorry, things have just been up..."
"We were really worried man."
"Sorry, I'll be over."Your POV
I was in my room, on the phone with Sosuke.
"You're not going to his competition and that's final."
"B-but-"
"No fucking buts! Go and I swear to God you'll regret it!" He yelled, making me move the phone away from my ear.
"Okay, I won't go." I pouted.
"Good, now remember the plan tomorrow. We're going out to dinner with my parents to discuss the plan about you moving away with us."
"Okay, Sosuke."
"I love you." He said.
"..." I couldn't reply...
"I said, I love you."
"I love you too." I lied and hung up the phone. The necklace was in my hand and I flung it to the other side of the room.
"(Y/n), is everything alright?" My mom called from the other side of the door.
Tears began to stream from my eyes, "Y-yeah, I'm fine."
"Okay, just checking. I have a question to ask you though."
"Sure. Come in." I wiped the tears out of my eyes before she entered.
She came in and sat on the side of my bed, "So... you're actually okay with going out of the country to live with them?"
"Yeah." I lied.
"Did Haru agree with it?"
"Yeah." I lied again. "He can't decide what and what I don't do."
"I'm sure he'll be sad to see you leave, just as we will..."
"He said he was fine with it." I never even told him...
"Alright. Well, are you sure this will be the right decision for you?"
I could tell my mom knew that I wasn't happy.
"We'll be rich Mom. I'll be able to help them out and in return you guys won't have to work ever again."
"But we love our jobs, sweetheart." Her eyes were staring deep into mine, she was trying to get the truth out of me. Then they trailed down to my exposed arm. I quickly grabbed my blanket and covered it.
"What is that?"
"Just a bruise." I said.
"How did you get it?"
"I tripped and fell really hard on it."
"When?"
"A few days ago."
"Want me to bandage it?"
"No, it's actually getting better."
"Alright, make sure you tell me these things. I need to know."
"Yes, Mom."
As soon as she left, I broke down. The tears flooded my eyes and I couldn't see. I silently cried into my pillow.
Not only was I hurting myself but I was hurting Haru... Lying to him like this was painful. I knew that this was an abusive relationship but I didn't want to hurt anyone's reputation so I kept my mouth shut. Yesterday, I was terrified that Haru would tell my parents about Sosuke's true nature, but he didn't...
Tomorrow was Haru's competition and I promised him I wouldn't miss it for the world. I was going to attend, I had to. Even if I hurt him, I had to be there to support him...
I looked through an old photo album of pictures of our first high school swim competition. We were all so happy that day, and in all honesty I didn't want to move to another country with Sosuke... I know I'd regret it for the rest of my life.
