Your POV Age: 17
*favourite song plays* I groaned and rolled over, slapping my hand on the night table in search for my phone. I picked it up, opened one eye and noticed two things; it was 6:32 AM and Haru was calling.
"He-llo?" I yawned.
"(Y/n), wake up." He demanded, it sounded like he got a whole ten hours of rest.
I rolled back onto my comfy side and put the phone on speaker, "Why should I? It's six thirty..." I yawned once again.
"We have to get in extra practice before school starts, and I wanna get to school early, it's finally our last year."
I groaned, "But I'm so tired and school isn't even that far."
"I'm driving."
"So? I can walk there in ten minutes."
"And I can drive you there in two. I'm coming to pick you up in five minutes, you better be ready."
"Ugh, fine." Haru and his damn early swim practices... I thought while getting out of bed.Beep! Beep!
"Honey, looks like Haru's here." My mom said while drinking tea.
"Alright." I yawned, I'm coming showoff. I picked up my bag and headed out the front door. Haru got out of his black Dodge Challenger and opened the passenger door for me.
"Good morning, shorty. You're looking very awake." He teased.
"Shut up, Haru. I was taller than you for a while."
"Yeah, was." He smiled and closed the door and made his was around to the driver's side.
"You just had a major growth spurt during the summer, that's all." I rolled my eyes, resting my head against the window. We arrived in the school parking lot and walked to the pool.
"Uh, isn't it too cold to go swimming now?" I asked.
"Not if you don't care. Come on in, what are you waiting for?" His body submerged into the water. "We have to get a lot of practice if you wanna make the team this year."
"Didn't I tell you?"
"Tell me what?"
"I'm not doing swimming anymore."
I watched his mouth form an O, "What do you mean?"
"I can't, I have to focus on school, extra curricular and my job after school."
He didn't respond, his face was still in a slight shock.
"I promise that I'll support you, that's why I took up cheerleading." I sat by the edge of the pool, "It's the only thing that doesn't interfere with what I have to do. And plus, I'll be able to cheer for you." I smiled.
He looked somewhat relieved but I guess he was still kinda upset that we wouldn't be swimming together this year.
"I mean we could always still swim at the neighbourhood pool when I'm available."
"I guess," he pushed off the wall and did front crawls from one side of the pool and back. His form was excellent and graceful.
"Haru! (Y/n)!" I heard a voice call, it was Nagisa and soon followed the rest of the swim team.
"Hey guys." I waved.
"So I assume you will be swimming this year, (y/n)." Rei asked.
Before I could answer, Haru popped his head out of the pool and said, "No."
"WHAT?!" They all said simultaneously.
"Why not?" Makoto asked, with disappointment on his face.
"I'm really busy guys, but I promise I'll always be there for you. I took up cheerleading so either way I can still support you guys."
"Aww, I guess it's better than nothing." Nagisa said with a sad tone in his voice.First period was about to begin so I sat down in the near back by a window and pulled out my phone.
Me: Haru, where r u???
Haru: I'm getting out of the change room
Me: I told you to get out of the pool earlier, the seats are filling up
Haru: Just save me a spot I'll be there
"Is anyone sitting here?" I looked up to meet a tall, raven haired guy.
My phone buzzed.
"Uh, no, you can sit here." I smiled. Dammit, my politeness always wins. This spot was for Haru.
"So... seeing as we'll be table partners, what's your name?"
"(Y/n). Yours?"
"Sosuke-" The bell rang, "Yamazaki." He chuckled.
My phone buzzed four times.
"Oh cool." Haru! Where are you? Then I picked up my phone again.
Haru: What's the class again?
Haru: (YYYYY/NNNNN)!!!!!
Haru: WHERE IS THE FREAKING CLASS!?!
Haru: I'm late -_-
Me: HARU-CHAN IM SO SORRY, ITS ROOM 241
Haru: ALL THE WAY UPSTAIRS!?! 😭😭
Me: SORRY ❤️❤️❤️❤️
"Alright class; phones away, notebooks out please." The teacher came in, Mrs. Walker.
Me: Come quick, the teacher is starting to call attendance. It's Mrs. Walker, you know how she is.
Haru: FUUUCKKKK
Me: WATCH YOUR PROFANITY 😠
"Phone away, Miss (l/n)."
"Sorry miss."
She continued the class and Sosuke whispered to me, "Hey, can I get your number?"
"Oh, uh, sure." I ripped a piece of paper off of my note and wrote my number down. "Here you go."
"Thanks." He winked at me, making me blush a little.
Suddenly, the door opened. Haru. I meekly smiled and waved at him. His face was straight, as always.
"Ah, Mr. Nanase. Is there any reason you're 5 minutes late?" Mrs. Walker said, unamused.
"I got lost." He glanced at me.
"This is your fourth year here..."
"It's a big school Miss."
"Please take your seat."
He walked towards me and I gave him an apologetic look, while pointing at the empty seat behind.
"Hmph." Was all I heard as he passed me.Lunch time! I walked to my locker and Sosuke decided to tag along.
"Hey traitor, are you coming to watch us practice?" Haru poked the centre of my back.
I yelped in surprise, "Stop that, you know I'm ticklish. And I'm not a traitor, you know you're still number one." I said while taking my lunch out of the locker. "And also, I can't."
"Well why not?"
"I'm giving Sosuke a tour."
Haru looked towards Sosuke, then back at me, "But you promised."
"I'm always there for you. Don't worry, I'm going to watch you after school. I can only watch you swim so much, ya know."
"Are you saying I'm boring?" He said sarcastically.
"Of course not." I rose up on my toes, and ruffled his hair, "I'll see you after school."
"Alright." He sighed and walked off.
"Is that your boyfriend?" Sosuke asked.
I laughed, "Oh, no. Just my life long best friend, Haruka Nanase."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, positive."
"So neither of you are attracted to each other?"
"I don't think so, I mean, we're practically siblings..."
"So does that mean you're single?"
"Yup. Come on, let's walk."
"Okay." He chuckled, rubbing his neck.
"He's also on the school team, he's a great swimmer. We use to swim all the time but I dropped out this year."
"You swim?"
"Eh, a little. I'm pretty good but not as good as Haru." I giggled, remembering all of our competitions as children.
"Well I'd like to race you one day."
"What? Wait, you swim too?"
"Yeah."
"Then you should totally join the swim team!"
"I'm already in one."
"Oh, cool. Like another school or---"
"Professional."
"Wow, that's so cool! Are you planning on pursuing that?"
"Nah, my dad owns a business and as his son I have to be apart of it after high school."
"Awesome, so you must be rich?"
"You could say that."
"I'm impressed."
I noticed him blush, "Thanks."
"No problem!"~After school~
"Haaarruuuu!" I called out, "I made it! Just like I promised!"
Haru poked his head out of the pool. "H-ey..." He got serious as soon as he noticed Sosuke.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing, but we can't really have spectators while we practice."
"Really, is that a new rule?"
"(Y/N)!" The rest of the swim team came to hug me.
"Guys, we went over this, this morning remember?"
"I know but it's great to see you, and we need you back on the team." Nagisa said.
"Sorry guys." I sighed.
"Wait a minute, I know you." Gou pointed out, staring deep into Sosuke's eyes. "You and my brother swim on the same team, right?"
He nodded.
"And you're Mr. Yamazaki's son. The owner of that big business."
"Uh, yeah." He replied, shyly.
"Well I'd ask you to be on the team but seems you're already occupied."
"Our team is full." Haru immediately said.
"No it's n-oomphf" Rei began but shut up as Haru elbowed his side.
"Well you can watch if you'd like." Gou said.
"Sure." He replied and I walked over to the splash free zone with him.~Home~
I was laying down on my bed, getting ready to go to sleep until Haru texted me.
Haru: That guy gives me weird vibes...
Me: Wym?
Haru: Something about him bothers me...
Me: Because he's taller than you?
Haru: What? No.
Me: Then what is it?
Haru: Listen, Idk what it is but it's something...
Me: Okay wise one. Goodnight 😴
Haru: Night
Before I placed my phone down it buzzed again, "What now Har-" It was a text from Sosuke.
Sosuke: Hey, would it be okay if I called you?
I looked at my clock, 10:45.
Me: It's fine
He called and I picked up the phone, "Hello?"
"Hey." His voice was very deep, I immediately blushed.
"Whoa, you're voice is so deep."
He chuckled, "Do you like it?"
"To be honest, yeah."
We continued talking until 2 am, getting to know more about each other. It was a very pleasant conversation too.
