(palace/curse - the internet)
Elizabeth was flirting with a guy, going for his money, it was just one of those times where the guy wanted her as well. He was kissing her, and she didn't do anything about it. She only saw it as a way to get his stuff easier. A distraction.
Brad was sitting at a table with people he didn't know, facing her. He was staring at Elizabeth and the guy he almost hated. Hated how he was giving her flirty eyes, kissing her, touching her. Why, he didn't know.
His mind was off. He didn't stick to his usual plan - that money only mattered to him. He didn't hook up with girls, he didn't steal in that moment. It was like the inclination was gone. But if he wasn't high right now, he would still want drugs. Dilated pupils staring at people dancing, making out, having fun.
He wanted to have fun, but it never happened. It wasn't fun to steal wallets and shit every time. Brad wanted a real life, but he didn't want it enough to make an effort. Brad was anxious after that cocaine high. Biting his chapped lips nervously, despite the faded taste of blood.
Elizabeth didn't know that he was watching her. If she knew what kind of trouble it would lead into, she wouldn't even consider talking with that guy. He had a few drinks, maybe it was the alcohol rushing through his body. Maybe it was the cocaine from earlier that still had an effect on him. He didn't know exactly why.
The guy was touching her but they weren't kissing anymore, and through Brad's eyes, it looked like Elizabeth was rather uncomfortable. But she was fine, she just did what she always did, and what Brad had told her to do.
He stood up, brushing his hair back from his forehead in a swift movement. He approached them, hitting the guy right on his defined jaw. It was only in the moment he did, Brad regret it - mainly because that would be on the list, to why he would go to hell. He realised that he had fucked up a long time ago, and there was no way that God would let him in heaven after all those sins. Though he would try.
Elizabeth stepped back wide eyed staring at him. And Brad sure wouldn't have done it either, if he knew what would happen next. The guy punched him right on the nose, blood instantly running down.
Brad's head was spinning around. People were looking, distant whispering and gasps. The guy had friends who came up standing by his side, but surely they wouldn't do anything. Elizabeth tried to stop it, but surely it was no help at all.
It was only then someone from the bar noticed, and Brad had to leave because of his drug abuse and the glass he just smashed into that guy's forehead. It was like someone was shouting inside his head, as he walked out full of rage.
"What were you doing?" Elizabeth called, running up to him.
He had never shouted like that at her. He had been cocky - sure, but never angry like in that moment. "What was I doing?" Brad had blood on his sleeve from wiping it off under his nose. He smiled but it was crystal clear, that it was not genuine. It was almost filled with pain, still with blood on his lip. "Sticking your tongue down his throat, even though you got what you fucking wanted."
But it was true. Elizabeth did keep on, even though she had stolen from him, though she thought she could get more. "Why the fuck did you do that?" Her eyebrows were knitted together, ignoring his statement.
"He was..." The crimson colored liquid kept running from his nose, and he kept wiping it with his sleeve. "Fuck Elizabeth, I was trying to help." Brad meant to sound friendly, but he was bitter. He could just as well be in there kissing every girl if he wanted too. She shouldn't think it was only her, but truthfully Elizabeth didn't. Brad was acting strange.
"I can take care of myself," she was still shocked from what just happened. "You know, I could've gotten money from that guy."
He let out a stiff laugh. "You want money?" Brad started taking up the ones he just earned. He seemed stressed out, something Elizabeth didn't really understand. He was never like that. "Fine, take them. I don't fucking care anymore."
He turned around, just about to walk away. "For God's sake Brad-"
He turned again, facing her with blank eyes, and an expression that carried hits of sorrow. "Don't... just don't say it." Elizabeth knew how much Brad cared about his religion. Even though he didn't follow the rules, he was devoted to it. He knew Elizabeth didn't mean it, when she said it.
Brad walked away, not even bothering anymore. It was stupid anyway. He didn't even know the exact reason to why he was acting like that, but he made himself believe that it was the alcohol and cocaine.
