Kol's POV
My eyes rolled back as I drained the girl I met at the bar I was at. It had been a year since I had left my family in New Orleans, but I'm sure they were coping fine without me. After all, I would have just dampened the mood.
It's crazy how even after a year, Elisa's name still gave me butterflies and made my heart sink at the thought of her being trapped on the other side alone. I knew what it was like over there, but with the ancestors gone, I knew she was safe at least.
I removed my mouth from the girls neck and picked up the body, chucking it into a dumpster and shutting it. My phone buzzed in my pocket, signifying me I had an incoming call.
Looking at the lit up screen, I saw Klaus' name, causing me to roll my eyes. Pressing the answer button, I put the phone to my ear and sighed.
"I've had a year without drama, Nik. This better be worth it" I said, walking out of the alleyway.
"You remember your promise you made, Kol. Now you need to keep it" he recalled my promise I made to Freya, causing me to roll my eyes.
"Alright, brother. Who's the damsel in distress this time?" I asked, wiping my face clear of blood.
"It's Hope, Kol. Some sort of force is hurting my daughter and I need your help" he sounded worried, causing me to stop.
I huffed, realising this situation must be serious. "Okay, Nik. I'll be there tomorrow afternoon. You can catch me up on what I've missed then" I told him before hanging up the phone.
Great. Now I have to return to the place which is full of bad memories for me so I can help my family destroy another evil force. There's no rest for a Mikaelson.
I walked out into the street and looked around before signalling a taxi. Looks like my fun was over.
Elisa's POV
One year. One year I had gone to the border of New Orleans and waited. One year I had hope. One year I had wasted believing Kol would return.
He was free now. Nothing tied him to New Orleans apart from his family, and they gave him permission to leave.
I was alone, heartbroken, and lost.
I sat in the church and kneeled in front of a statue. I kept tabs on the Mikaelson's and always checked to see if they were okay, but they seemed to have found peace now in the city.
"Please... I can't live like this anymore. I'm alone and Kol is never going to return to me. Please, help me get out of here and return to the living or at least give me something to use my powers for" I said to the statue, looking at it with pleading eyes.
I knew I was being crazy, but I needed something to tell me I was going to make it out of this place.
Shaking my head, I looked down, closing my eyes as tears flooded out of them. I was stuck in this hellhole forever.
Suddenly, a blue light appeared and covered the statue, causing me to look up in confusion. Turning round, I saw it floating in the air, drawing me in. Standing up, I slowly approached it, intrigued by what it was.
Was it the sign I was looking for? Was it my way out? I continued walking until I was surrounded, the blue light making me feel reassured and making me feel like it would help me escape the darkness.
