Scene opens with music (preferably Mark Summers – Summer Magic, if however due to copyright issues, this song can be skipped entirely), lights play accordingly. Sudden fade in, we see a boy called Dean Norman, music still playing. Voice over of Arthur Wallace, the private investigator investigating the missing case plays

Arthur: This is Dean Norman, a young lad aged six. Lives with his mother and father in the small town of Nethercott Passage. His father is a banker and his mother works as a journalist. They live quite happily together; their life is perfect...

Suddenly music stops and blackout

Arthur: However, this is not how the story goes, if you were expecting a light-hearted family show, then I am afraid you are sorely mistaken, this story is by no means lighthearted with a wonderful love story and well-produced musical numbers. If you do not wish to listen to this story, then I am sure the manager of this fine establishment that you are watching this performance can offer you a refund, I'm sure there will be a lighthearted family show soon, but for now, this is the only story I can offer

One light focuses on Dean again

Arthur: This is yet again Dean Norman, a young lad now aged twelve. Lives with his mother in the small town of Nethercott Passage. His father was a banker and his mother used to work as a journalist. They no longer live happily together anymore; their life is no longer perfect...

Blackout

Arthur: See? Told you this story isn't as light-hearted as you might expect

One light focuses on Dean's father all bloodied up

Arthur: Dean's father, Alexander Norman, died in a car accident as he was coming home from work

Blackout, sound effect of a car crash is played

Arthur: The culprit was a drunkard who was speeding and rammed straight into Dean's father's car

One light focuses on Dean's mother with baggy eyes, shaking and slightly crouched

Arthur: After the car accident, Dean's mother; Sandra Norman went into a state of depression, so much so that she lost her job and tried her best to regain her strength and her job but to no avail. Both her and Dean are living on benefits

Blackout

Arthur: As for Dean Norman himself, this is the missing case of Dean Norman

Lights fade in on Arthur Wallace, the private investigator, in his office busy typing away on a typewriter, voice over still plays. Arthur's mouth never moves in the entirety of the play

Arthur: As for me, my name is Arthur Wallace, I am a private investigator studying the missing case of Dean Norman and his mysterious disappearance. The case was opened by the Nethercott Passage police when they reported Dean Norman missing on the 22nd of November, sixteen years ago. The police and the Nethercott Passage community organized a search party to look for Dean but to no success, to this very day, his case has remained unsolved. I am reopening this case after searching for some clues as to his disappearance and why he might have left his home. I know that after sixteen years Dean may be dead but I still have high hopes that he is still alive, somewhere...
