We proceed back to Arthur's office where he is busy typing away, complete darkness
Arthur: You may say to yourself, but Dean's mother would never do that. Would she? Ask yourself this. Can you handle someone who's a bit different?
Lights fade out. Lights fade back in and the following actions follow what Arthur recounts
Arthur: His mother contacted the Nethercott Passage Asylum shortly afterwards and within a few hours they proceeded towards Dean's room and took him away. She signed the agreement and Dean was never seen again by his mother. Ask yourself that question again and put yourself in her shoes. He was taken to the asylum and placed in a room with only a bed, a pillow and a small little window in which he can see his world turn to dust. The screams of the sheer horror of the patients at the asylum were appalling. Since his condition was extremely rare and many doctors did not know the effects that fantasy prone personality did to the mind and body, they of course, like anyone whose curious about anything, performed experimentations on him. They would drug him and make him go into his dream world multiple times, in and out, in and out, perform CT scans on him and give him injections which made his hallucinations come and go as they please. As for The Shadow, Dean only saw him once, once and once only, the only time an imaginary entity showed emotional support to anyone was when Dean was committed and sent into a van with him tied up in a straightjacket and his mother crying her eyes out with what she had done and him... The Shadow... just simply holding Ms. Norman's shoulder and looking dead straight into Dean's eyes, grinning, as Dean left for Nethercott Passage Asylum. Since all of this was controversial, the police were informed not to report anything that was done on Dean or the decision his mother made to send him to the asylum. Instead, the police "changed" the story to close the case forever and never re-open it again. And that my dear audience, is the missing case of Dean Norman
He stops typing, but after a while, he decides to continue a bit more
Arthur: What happened to Dean you may ask, after so many experimentations, so many injections, so much screaming and so much pain, he closed his eyes, but this time... forever and he entered the most comprehensible world he could possibly imagine, his own home. The home of peace and tranquillity. The home of normality. And he made himself anew. Reborn from the ashes of what he had left behind
Arthur then looks around his office and then back at his typewriter
Arthur: But, I think, it's time to wake up
The typewriter dings and Arthur looks in front of him and sees a mysterious black figure. He then takes out the last sheet of paper, places all the papers together and places it in his bag. He closes the typewriter, stands up and is about to exit. He looks at his office one last time, then leaves. Slow fadeout
Blackout
