"I'm not beautiful-"
"Ali stop-"
"I'm not smart-"
"Ali please-"
"And I'm not worth your time." Alania finished, smiling sadly at her shoes before looking at the guy before her with her tear-filled eyes.
Derek gulped, feeling something within him churn as he felt the sadness radiating off of her.
He didn't deserve her.
"Ali-"
"No let me finish." Alania ground out softly, making Derek shut up. He knew disrupting her would only make things worse. So he listened, something he regretted never doing on the duration of their relationship.
Alania breathed deeply, as if saying the next words is as hard as letting someone you love so much go.
"I knew. I knew from the start what you're intentions were. I know you love someone that is not me. I know you faked your smiles, hugs, and kisses to me. I know you secretly wipe your mouth after we kiss. I know you cringe everytime we hug. I know you intentionally ignore my messages. I know a lot of things you think I don't know. And you know what? I understand you. I really do. Why? Because I know you don't love me."
Alania's voice broke at the last sentence, making Derek want to close the 2 meter distance and hug her, comfort her, do everything he was supposed to do in their relationship.
But he knew it was too late.
He had one month to show her all of those actions. He had one month, and all he did was push her away. And now, felt every pain he inflicted upon her, as she backed away when he neared her, pushing him away.
He choked on his saliva, not stopping the tears that is finally flowing freely down his cheeks.
He can't do anything now.
"Alania, please." Derek begged. He wasn't even sure what he's begging. It didn't even register in his mind that this was the first time he genuinely begged to a person.
All that is on his mind right now, is doing everything in his power to keep her. To let her know that he finally woke up. To tell her what he's actually feeling. To kiss, hug, or whatever he was supposed to do.
"I begged you. I did everything for you. And it wasn't enough." Alania said, smiling sadly at him. "I will always love you Derek. But it's about time I learn to love myself."
And with a sob, Alania left Derek standing alone in the cemetery. Sad and heartbroken. The right emotion at the right place, just the wrong situation.
