"I love you, Derek."
Derek woke up suddenly, feeling sweat glide down his face. A sudden headache came out of nowhere that had him lie down instantly. He moved his hand towards the bedside table, getting his phone to look at the time.
The brightness of his phone was at the lowest yet it still blinded him like crazy.
The time said it was 2:30 in the morning.
He then sighed, putting down the phone and turned his attention to the ceiling.
'Now what was that about?'
That was the first time Derek ever dreamt about her. And it felt like a nightmare. He didn't know why he felt scared, but he did. It was a sudden emotion. He didn't remember much of what happened in that dream, but he could see her face as clear as the sky.
He rubbed his temple, trying to drive away that sudden headache. And trying to get some sleep.
30 minutes through the twist and turning, Derek finally concluded that he can't sleep anymore, so he pushed the blanket away and wrapped his hand around his phone. He then went downstairs to get himself a bottle of water from the fridge.
Derek sat down at the counter, focusing on nothing particular, trying to calm his very fast-beating heart. The cause? He doesn't know.
"Thought I heard some noise down here."
He heard someone say from the doorway. He looked at that way and then smiled when his father's face came to view.
"Can't sleep." He replied, taking a sip of his water.
"Well, I thought that too. And that's why," he paused, getting something from behind, "we're watching reruns of Friends. How about that?" His father grinned.
He felt himself relax and grinning back. His father knew him too well.
"-take thee, Rachel."
Derek laughed, taking a piece of 'Taquitos' from the bowl. It was already around 4:30 in the morning, and sleep didn't attack him. And he felt like it won't anytime soon. But it did on his father though. He was on the bean bag, his face looking up with a drool sporting the side of his mouth.
Derek smiled at his father gratefully, before turning his attention back to the screen.
It was always Derek and Roger. Son and father. And it had been like that for quite some time already. Not that he's complaining.
He looked at the phone in his hand, the one he used yesterday to communicate with his mom.
It had been a long time since he saw her, and if honestly speaking, he missed her too. He couldn't even remember what she looked like for crying out loud! The only thing he remembers from her, is her voice. The one he used to hear sweet lullabies from.
Laughter erupted from the tv and he snapped his head way too fast that a crack was heard. And then a groan.

"What's this first date I heard about that happened yesterday?" Ryder asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
