Day 12

True to his word, Luke doesn't leave. On the twelfth day, he's still sitting on the floor by my bed.

"Luke."

I lean over and look at him.

He looks so peaceful when he sleeps, almost like a child. 

I hate to wake him up, but I have to.

"Luke."

He groans, wiping the sleep out of his eyes.

"Yeah?"

"You're still here." 

"Yeah, I am."

"Why?"

"I told you I wasn't going to leave until you ate something."

"Why?"

"Because food is good for you."

"Food makes you fat." 

He sighed in exasperation. There were dark circles under his eyes and I felt a pang of guilt for being the cause.

"Have you been skipping meals?"

I didn't reply.

"We're going to try something new today--"

"Luke--"

"How does that make you feel?"
