On the twentieth day, Luke is still outside.
"He's still out there?"
My room mate, Lisa, looked out the window.
"Yeah."
"Why don't you just forgive him?"
"Why would I? He lied to me."
"You don't know that for sure."
I frowned, looking at him over her shoulder.
Luke seems rather resigned now. He's sitting out on the sidewalk.
He's drawing with chalk, but still not leaving.
"I think you should forgive him. He's the closest friend you have. I've seen the way you smile when he's around."
"No."
"But what if he's the only person you'll ever have?"
"Then I'd rather be alone."
