On the one hundredth day, Luke decided to take me to the beach.
When we got there, he told me to take off my sundress and go swimming with him.
"I can't."
"Why not?"
"Because they'll see my cuts."
"They're all healed, right?"
I nodded.
"When was the last time you cut?"
"Five weeks and counting."
He smiled.
"I'm so proud of you."
Then, he took my hand and flipped my arm over, staring at all the scars, some more faded than the others.
And he kissed them.
"You know what? Who gives a damn about what they think?"
