My Conviction

Our English teacher had assigned us to write a paragraph of something we believe in. We had to convince her that our notions are in fact what is true. Here is what I wrote:

Make up is not beauty.
If one insists it is, what is the point of this so-called perfection if ninety percent of the beauty can be removed with a towel? Cosmetic industries take advantage of our insecurities and we succumb to temptations like we are helpless beings.
Yes, they bring forth teachings of self love when all we learn is self hate, but it cannot be condoned that we have the audacity to blame cosmetic industries for our weaknesses. The dark spots, oily skin and blemishes are a symbol of our strength.
Our resilience.

Self love is beauty.
