House of Cards

Normally when you build something

The first thing you must have is a

Good foundation

But we wanted there to be an "us"

Quickly

So we built these walls on our shaky beliefs

And lustful thoughts

Now here we sit in this house of cards

Surrounded by diamonds, hearts, kings and queens

You promised to be my ace

And I promised not to be a joker

Fast forward

This house still stands

But we don't trust anymore

We are in lust

But I am in love too

As unstable as it is

As dangerous as these arguments can be

I stand here ready to endure it all

Ready to add another card

But we don't trust each other

Especially after all of those trick plays

And hiding my hands.

But I'm showing my cards and

My heart.
