Taking off the helmet I tried to smooth out my hair. Tristan had indeed brought me home, he just went the long way. I heard the engine stop and turned around curious to see what was happening. Tristan removed his helmet and ran a leather gloved hand roughly through his hair. "I'll keep an eye out for our friends from earlier, but don't leave the house for anything unnecessary." I looked down at my feet and clasped my hands.
"If they-those people find me and take me, what would they do?" He looked at me hard before sighing deeply,
"They would put you through a lot of pain." His hand cupped my chin and forced me to look into his eyes. His once serious face softened and a gentle smile graced his lips.
"Don't worry, I won't let them touch you. I give you my word and vow." He bent his head slightly as he kissed my cheek, my cheek felt unnaturally warm like it was some kind of seal. I stepped away from him with a light blush on my cheeks.
"Sorry, I'm not usually so..."
"Pompous?" I answered for him. He gave me that heartbreaking grin I'd seen at the party.
"I was going to say high and mighty, but I suppose that works too," he said while shaking his head. His hand gingerly went up and touched the cheek where his lips had been.
"Be safe and be careful. Try not to do anything reckless when I'm not there to save you," he said jokingly, but I could tell he was somewhat serious.
"Thanks for today. I'll call you okay?" He nodded solemnly as he climbed onto his bike once more. I turned and walked away and heard his bike speed off as I opened the front door.
"Who was that?" I jumped at the question ready to be sent the nunnery by Jane. Except it was Leo who asked the question. I breathed out a sigh of relief as I continued my trek to my bedroom.
"Just a friend."
"You straddle all your friends like that." It wasn't a question, it was filled with smug and cockiness. I turned to face my little brother.
"You tell Jane and I'll tell her about your candy stash." He rolled his eyes,
"I wasn't going to tell, I just wanted to know who the Frenchie was."
"Fren-" My eyes grew wide as Leo giggled and ran off into another room.
"There is nothing French about a kiss on the cheek!" I yelled after him and stomped up the stairs to my room. I slammed the door shut and flopped onto my bed exhausted. I quickly jumped out after hearing a harsh hissing sound. There, on my bed, was Sky curled up into ball.
"You're not going to move are you?" I asked the cat. Oh great now I'm talking to cats. I slipped into some boxers and a tank top and plopped down on my bed again away from Sky. I flipped open my phone.
“You stole my shoes! I had to get my mother to pick me because I couldn't drive. You want to know why? CAUSE.YOU.HAD.MY.SHOES.”
