"Ptah." Tristan briskly corrected. Suddenly a ball of fur jumped on my lap. I started to pet Sky and stared down into her beautiful honey colour eyes.
"Wait you knew there was someone else here that was like me Meg?" Tristan quickly picked up Sky and threw her on the floor. I stared at him ready to tell him off when I noticed the set of his jaw.
"You were almost taken out today. This is not the time to play with the kitty cat." Taken out? I looked to Meg for an explanation.
"I am sorry I hid the truth about my nephew, but as his Guard I have to put his safety above all others. I wasn’t sure you could be trusted.” Oh wait, wasn’t sure I could be trusted? I was the one completely out of my element here.
“To answer your other question since the dawn of time there are those who have coveted the power of the gods. Power hungry and obsessed with your kind. Many have and will come after the pure blood line, you have to be more careful. Even with Tristan here, you have to keep your guard up." Even with him here? I don't need a babysitter. Besides wasn't Ptah Baset's husband.... I made a quick glance at Tristan. Was that why I was so attracted to him, because of something that happened in the past?
No, these feelings are entirely your own.
I glanced around. Where had that voice come from?
Your head silly.
Hey, who are you calling silly? Okay, why am I talking to myself in my head? This is all just a very bad dream. In a few minutes I will wake up and-
And what? Go back to a boring life? This is your freedom, your peace.
"Eleanor?" My head snapped up towards Meg's voice. She looked concerned.
"Try to pay attention, we’re talking about your life here." Said Tristan pointedly. Jesus, when did become all high and mighty? Where'd that easy grin of his go?
Here, let me talk to him. You? I don't even know who you are, or where you are? Suddenly my entire body grew warm. It felt as if there were fireworks going off inside me.
"Watch your tongue you devil! Do not speak to us as lower beings!" A voice, which came from my lips spoke with pure acid. Meg blanched white, Tristan smirked with amusement and relaxed against the couch. His face relaxed and shook his head as if trying to get sand out of his hair.
"I was wondering when you'd show up Baset." This wasn't Tristan, it was a similar being to the one that now inhabited my body. Meg quickly got up and vacated the room. It was weird, I could see and hear everything that was happening, but I felt like a fly on the wall. Bright white sparks danced in front of my eyes. A chill wind pierced my flesh and left me trembling. As I opened my eyes I was no longer in Meg's house, but a garden full of tulips. I slowly stood up, my clothes were different. I was wearing a white silk dress with bat sleeves and a wide neckline. The gown swept over the grass. Holding my arms out I began to twirl. I swished my hips watching the hem line move with me. Ever since I was little I always wanted to do this. Yes, I should be panicking right now because I was suddenly transported from Meg’s living room to wherever here is, but the dress is pretty. Spreading my arms out I began to spin faster and faster watching the dress poof out. A strong pair of hands grasped arms from behind suddenly. I let out a yelp of surprise. A soft yet deep chuckle tickled my ear. Turing around, I faced Tristan, the actual Tristan. He held an easy grin on his face. He too was clad in white, which showed off his broad shoulders. Heat flooded my cheeks as I quickly stepped away from him.
