He was your husband though! Why on earth would someone depicted as your sister go after your husband? That is just, well, wrong. And gross, very gross, on a variety of levels.

Marriages for Gods are different than that of mortals.

How is it different? What, is there no ring, no ceremony? Marriage is all about the vows isn't it?

Well the only thing that really constitutes a marriage is offspring between the two.

But still, that's just wrong. Wait, do those habits transfer to the Neter? Like Tristan, would Tristan turn into a cheating scumbag?

And why would you have any interest in that?

I don’t.

I’m sure. Well consider this, do you see parts of yourself in me?

I don't know, I mean I don't go ham on Snake gods but, who knows.

Silly girl I did not mean similarities in one's life. I am the goddess of protection and symbol of femininity.

And I am a girl who likes the fact that we now have women's rights.

You are still only glazing the surface. There is much to understand, and little time to comprehend it.

The bell sounds ending class and I book it from my seat, like I could run from Mao.

“Wait Eleanor!” I stop and wait for Bryn to catch up.

“Sorry.”

“Why the rush, do you have practice or something?” I shake my and continue down the hallway with her.

“Sorry, I’m just spacing today.” I see Courtney at her locker ahead of us. Bryn runs up behind her and attacks her with a hug.

“I’m so, so, so sorry! I am a terrible person! I am a terrible friend! Please forgive me! No, I don’t deserve forgiveness. Oh Courtney, how can I ever make this up to you! I’ll do anything! Wait, okay maybe not anything, but borderline anything. I’m so sorry!” Bryn’s iron grasp squeezes Courtney profusely. I touch Bryn’s arm,

“Bryn, you’re squeezing her too hard.” Bryn’s eyes pop wide open and immediately releases her. Courtney coughs a little and rubs her arms.

“Relax Bryn, I forgive you.” She says with a small smile. I look at her for a moment. Just an hour ago she was pissed. I cross my arms and give her a knowing grin.

“Wow Courtney, that was big of you. I wonder if this generous mood has something to do with Kale.” Courtney’s face turned a fresh shade of scarlet. It reaches the tips of ears and goes further down her neck. Bryn adopts my grin and slings an arm over her shoulders.

“I would be proud to call you sister.” Oh boy, Bryn and I burst into giggles and Courtney turns a couple shades darker. We start walking towards the exit doors with Bryn and I on either side of her in a Courtney sandwich.

“So, what did he say, what did you say? When’s the first date?” Bryn bubbles out, but Courtney just shakes her head.

“There’s no date, nothing happened.” I bump shoulders with her,

“Courtney he has his game face, he was headed for the end zone. Don’t tell us nothing happened.” She sighs,

“Well, um, okay, well he, um…”

“Spit it out!” Bryn shakes her impatiently.

“He said that he likes me okay!” We stop and stare, she sighs again, “He said he likes me more than a friend. That he thinks about me, a lot, like more than sports.” Damn, the boy has got it bad. “And that he, he didn’t want to ruin our friendship because he didn’t want things to be awkward. He said it was okay if I didn’t answer him right away, that I should think about what he said for a bit and stuff.” Well that was mature of him. I loop Courtney’s arm in mine and continue towards the parking lot.

“He’s right, you should think about it.”

“If he thinks about you more than sports than you should think really hard on it.” Bryn chimes in. Courtney looks at her in question. “He is my brother, so this is kind of awkward to talk about, but it’s obvious he seriously likes you. So it is my sisterly duty to advise to take this as seriously as he is.” Courtney nods solemnly and squeezes my arm tighter.

“Aw, Bryn, look at you being all family orientated.”

“Shut up!” I can’t help the laugh that rings out. Just as we reach the parking lot a cold shiver crawls up my spine. I drop Courtney’s arm as my body becomes rigid.

“Hey Eleanor, you okay?” I faintly hear Bryn ask me, but it feels like she’s miles away. The shiver sinks into my skin and penetrates my bones. A faint smell lingers slightly with the blowing wind. It’s unnatural yet familiar. A burnt smell with traces of leather and blood. I suddenly recognize with a gut wrenching panic. Someone is watching me. And whoever that someone is, is part of the brotherhood.

Wow, it has been quick some time since I last updated and I am sorry, that's on me. Starting my second year of university, moving into a new apartement, and starting a new job has kept me pretty busy. I cannot promise weekly updates, but I shall do my best to update as often as possible. Thanks to everyone reading, voting, and commenting and have yourselves a lovely thanksgiving for all you Canadians out there <3
