Life begins with a scream that's followed by the tears of everyone around. More often than not, that's also how life ends. You hear yourself screaming as your life as you know it crashes down around you. Blood trails down your arms and hands, dripping off your fingertips. You wonder how things got that bad, bad enough for you to try and take your own life as you scream in frustration. That's what I did at least. Now I'm surrounded by darkness.

Usually I would find the dark comforting, but here it was a constant reminder that I failed at my previous attempt to find solace in death. You see, I'm in a coma, just floating around in the eerily silent darkness that's consumed me. There's nothing to do here besides stare into the abyss, wondering if you'll ever escape or if someone will come for you. Depending on your luck, they will. Depending on your luck, the person that comes for you will either be Satan, an angel, or God himself. Wouldn't it figure that I have the shittiest luck known to man and found myself staring into the eyes of the devil?

When I meet the devil, it wasn't as all what I expected. The man didn't have horns or a tail, and his skin certainly wasn't red like we're told as children. Quite contrary to popular believe, Satan was a handsome man with a voice as thick and smooth as honey. He definitely had a way with words.

A slim finger slid down my cheek bone, leaving a sharp stinging sensation behind. I flinched, unable to hide my discomfort. "My dear (First name) you don't have much time left. Soon the doctors will pull the plug."

"I know, Satan. I'm aware..." I stated, my voice trailing off near the end. Sometimes I can hear the cries of my friends and family inside this pit or darkness. I've heard what the doctors say. They believe I won't make it out alive, and I believe they're right.

"Now, don't look so down. You're much too beautiful for that." Satan's lips curled up into a smile that was far too mischievous for comfort. "How about I make you a deal? You can either stay here until they pull the plug and God throws you wherever he pleases, or, if you value your life, you can agree to go on a date with my son and I'll allow you to wake up from your coma."

I swallowed, feeling a lump form in my throat. Tears threatened to slide down my cheeks. I felt helpless. I ended up in this situation because I wanted to die, but now I'm not so sure. I felt Satan looming over me, staring hard enough to make my head explode.

"What will it be, sweet (First name)? Would you like to return home?"

"I would." I took in a deep breath, knowing what I was about to say would change my entire existence completely. "I'll go on a date with your son, Satan."

"Excellent!" Satan's mischievous smile grew. He was smiling so hard I swear I could see his cheeks beginning to split open. "Then I'll see you soon, precious." His long slender fingers pressed together as he snapped. Suddenly, I felt as though I was spinning. The darkness began to disappear; light began to take over. I became blinded by the brightness. I had no idea what was happening, but I was terrified to say the least.
