20 - THE WEAKNESS

*SNAP* 

"Y/N!"

"APPRENTICE, KILL HIM!" 

"What…"

Was it a bluff?

Jake and the others were all trapped in a tank. They all have their aquarium like fishes. If they move and tried escaping the tank, the water will rise and drown them to death.

"FINN!" they all cried. Lich slowly rose the water to almost half of their body to continue filling up the tank. Finn immediately wondered for a plan, although, Y/n used her power to lift Finn even in her suffering state. Her swollen forehead ate most of her face which will eventually result in a concussion. If Finn fails to save him and his friends from the Lich, Y/n will become his apprentice forever. 

"Let…my…friends…go," Finn tried catching his breath even if Y/n tried shrinking his lungs telekinetically. "Guys," Y/n's eyes glowed black, controlling him more to lose air, "R-remember…the…r-r-riddle?" he managed to speak, "T-try…a-answer—"

A bright gold light filled the cave. Sparks of fire formed into a ball of golden light, forming into feathers that were eventually shaped into fiery birds. The phoenix flaunted his long eyelashes, luring them to watch him develop completely. His health void bound him and Finn to regain his oxygen. Y/n dropped Finn on the ground, astonished by the bird's presence. Finn gasped for air, regenerating more of his strength from the void that covered him to think of a plan. 

Lich gawked at the phoenix then spoke, "Pierre? Long time no see." he grumbled.

"You're still the usual Luis I know." Pierre threw a gigantic fireball at Lich but Y/n shielded him. She squirmed then manipulated the pain by protecting herself in a dark bubble. The fire was absorbed by the bubble, forcing its power to fix the dilated face of hers, stitching her wings' black feathers back to normal and healing the burns that began filling her whole body. She picked Finn by hand in her floating position. 

"Finn, I'll take Lich from here. Remember the riddle!" The phoenix hollered from the middle of his battle with Lich. 

Meanwhile, Finn realized that he'll be saving more from his friends after saving himself from dying. He wriggled from Y/n's tight grasp, escaping her control. "Let me go!"

"Not until I kill you first!" 

Marceline shouted from the tank, "Finn! Help!" Jake and Princess Bubblegum did the same thing, struggling to catch their breath in the water tank. Finn watched them cry from struggling, glaring back at Y/n. "You don't remember, do you?" 

"You were an outcast. Your parents were killed by the outsiders. You found me, your sister, Jane, and them," he points out, "…to seek for help. We mistook you for Jane's intentions; we helped you remember your memories and I tried helping you save your sister."

Finn continued, "Remember the dungeon battles? The swordfights? Battle practices?"

"I don't remember any of this!" she glared. "It's because you were controlled by him!" he pointed at Lich who was beating the phoenix's light with his darkness, "He's my master!" she said rigorously that resulted in anger when her eyes gleamed red until Princess Bubblegum yelled from the tank, interrupting them. 

"F-FINN! T-THE A-ANSWER IS—" 

FINN'S POV 

"F-FINN! T-THE A-ANSWER IS—"

Huh? 

"Too late… The tank is full." she widely grinned then continued, "You think you'll prevail? 

"YOU THINK YOU WILL STILL WIN?!" I snatched her necklace after leaping over her, throwing it to the wall forcefully as it breaks into pieces. "HAHAHAHA! Even if you break that necklace apart," I glimpsed at Pierre who was pinned against the wall with Lich's black bubble, "She drank my blood." 

"F-Finn," Pierre tried speaking in his godly voice, "The riddle…" 

For you, I am your enemy
Because I am confusing you a lot
You fight with me because you can't admit it
But you know to yourself, you are in denial

What do you think am I? 

"Love…" 

"PRINCESS!" 

"Love, Finn. It's love," she muttered in a soft voice, still head up high. Jake tried opening his eyes only to close them again. Marceline never had the chance to talk. It was too late… 

"Finn!" Pierre whispered, "Kissing her is the only chance to…" he paused, "…to defeat him." 

Lich zoomed next to me but it was too late for him too. I smirked playfully, realizing how long was our battle to finish and that love was the only thing to bring everything back to normal. I dashed next to Y/n who stared at me cluelessly. I pulled her to break the gaps between us until our lips were completely sealed together. It sure is stupid, the fact that she has Lich's blood like I kissed that creep too but to see her widen her eyes in awe, I know it to myself that the real Y/n is already there. 

"NOOOOO!" 

Lich disappeared from the light that chained the two humans. The pink light that surrounded their figure somewhat saved their friends from death. The phoenix that was trapped in the black bubble flew upon their radiance.

Y/n was back to normal. Her wings faded along with the radiating light. Their intimidating contact immediately interfered with the light that diminished. After they looked at each other awkwardly, Finn chimed in, breaking the silence between them. 

"Y/n?" she looked away with a rosy blush on her cheeks, "Y-you're back!" I hugged her tightly but her face felt hot. I immediately broke our embrace and smiled. 

She gasped, dumbfounded. 

I only did that to break the curse so there shouldn't be a misunderstanding. 

"FINN!" Jake jumped into a wild tight hug, "I…can't…breathe…" 

"Oh, sorry." 

"I just wanna know, how did you do the riddle?" Pb rose an eyebrow, nudging me with her elbow teasingly, "Uh," I peeped at Y/n then back at PB. "I kissed her to save everyone." 

"Nothing else…"
