Chapter twenty-one: gone

(Sorry for the late update. Track has kept me busy since I practice at school and get private lessons for my hurdles. Also my dog, Raine has kept me busy since I need to run her and all my school work, ect. Once spring break starts I will hopefully get a lot more done. Thanks everyone for being patient. One last thing; sorry for not putting the winners cats on here yet, but don't worry they are coming.

"What!" I mewed, shocked at what he said. "You can't leave, Jayfeather!"

Fury began to grow in my chest and I gritted my teeth as Jayfeather was turned facing away from me. My fur grew hot and my pelt rised as I hissed at him. I have never been so agitated with Jayfeather in my life.

Jayfeather growled and turned toward me and spoke, "Scarshadow, you don't even care about me!" He paused and looked at me in the eye. "You don't want me in the clans, you don't even like to spend any time with me, You avoid me."

I gasped at what the gray cat said, he thinks I ignore him? It just so happened that I was doing stuff that led me in a different direction. What was I saying, I knew that I stayed my distance from him on purpose. "Jayfeather." I said and looked at my paws. "The truth is- well..." I hesitated and looked at him, "I was afraid that I would... That I would fall in love with you. I have a mate and we are going to have kits. Jayfeather, I can't be a medicine cat while I have kits, you know that."

"What," Jayfeather snapped, "your having kits, and you didn't even tell me?" He snarled and dug his claws into the ground, "this is what happens when your never even around anymore. So good luck on your own, fox heart!"

"Jayfeather," I mewed softly. "You... You don't mean that, do you?" I stared at him with sadness as he looked in the distance.

He sighed, but didn't look at me, "some things are meant to be said that others don't want to hear." As he finished he started to walk off again; I took a step forward. "Don't come after me." He snapped; I sensed sadness in his voice as he tried to hide it.

I stopped and stared at him walk away in a slow, sorrowful movement. "Jayfeather." I whispered. I couldn't let myself have him go alone, I had to follow him. I waited a few minutes to follow him so he wouldn't hear or smell me, but as I started walking I heard Darkflash call to me.

"Scarshadow, there you are," he purred as he paced up to me happily, not noticing my sadness. He sat there for a while waiting for me to answer him. When I didn't he frowned, "Scarshadow?"

"Jayfeather left." I whispered, "and he isn't coming back." I looked at my paws as I sighed at my mate. I don't think I've ever been so sad in my life. Jayfeather has always been there for me ever since I came here. Then I realized: my mother, Raine, Pumpkin, My whole family. I sobbed and dropped to my belly, mourning for all the losses in my life.

"He wouldn't!" Darkflash meowed, a deep growl of frustration in his throat. "Don't worry, he will come back." He purred and continued, "he wouldn't leave you."

I hesitated, "he would if I avoided him and then told him only today that I was going to have kits."

"Wait, your going to have kits?" he meowed, "why didn't you tell me!" He stared at me, how did he not know I was going to have kits? He was going to be the father and he didn't know?

"Are you serious?" I meowed, annoyed that he hadn't even noticed. "A future father that doesn't even know his mate is having kits! How?"

"I don't know, okay." He said with a groan. "I have been busy that I guess I didn't notice. Why would Jayfeather leave-"

"I have to go after him!" I said, interrupting Darkflash.

He stared at me, "are you crazy?" He growled, "you can't go after him when your pregnant. You know that, Scarshadow. I will go after him for you."

"No, I need to go after him. I caused this and I will bring him back." I looked around camp and saw Bramblestar. I ran up to him and dipped my head in respect to my leader. "Bramblestar, Jayfeather left an I have to go after him."

The big, tabby tom looked at me, his mouth open in astonishment. "Why did he run away?" Bramblestar asked me kindly, "did he not feel welcome anymore?"

"That doesn't matter, my brother is out there alone an he is blind. We have to go after him." The muscular body of Lionblaze stood behind me as I spoke to Bramblestar, but he was right we had to go after him. No matter what, he could get himself killed on his own, and it was all my fault.

I need help naming Scarshadow's kits. i have names already, you just have to comment which one you want the 3rd kit to be named. I am naming two kits Cloudkit(blue eyes, creamy white, long fur with a white mark on her face.) and Moonkit (Dark grey tom with yellow eyes)... Here are your choices for the third kit.

•Mistkit- she cat- light grey and white cat with blue eyes.

•Battlekit- tom- dark brown short haired tabby.

•Twistedkit- she cat- light brown crooked whiskers and a lame foot and bright green eyes.

•Silentkit- tom- black and white long hair with brown eyes

•Hawkkit- she cat- jet black with amber eyes.
