I have been searching for about half an hour. I had Darkflash, Graystripe, and Cloudtail with me on the search to find my mentor. I was afraid we wouldn't find him but Cloudtail has his scent trail and he is the best tracker in the clan.
"Jayfeather!" I yelled through the woods and herd it echo back. Darkflash walked next to me and I sighed. Cloudtail stopped and stared back at us and back ahead of him. "What's the problem, Cloudtail?" I asked.
"This is the end of the territory." I breathed out, "we would be entering Shadowclan's territory if we kept moving." The white Tom took a step back and sat down looking in the distance.
Darkflash and I exchanged anxious glances and I bowed my head to look at the ground and walked up to Cloudtail. "We are going to go through to look for him, aren't we?" I asked nervously.
Cloudtail shook his head and stood up, "we told Bramblestar we would just look around our territory. Tomorrow is the gathering, we will ask if anyone has scented Jayfeather, okay Scarshadow?" I nodded. "Okay, then lets go back to camp and tell Bramblestar that we didn't find him."
"I want to stay here a bit." I mewed, sorrow filling my heart making it as heavy as a stone. The cats nodded and headed back to camp leaving me alone at the edge of the territory.
Eventually, I got up and stared into shadowclan territory, thinking of my best friend. "I have to go find him." I whispered to myself. I herd a movement in the bush not to far away and I froze. Looking around I tried to find out where the enemy was hiding. I bared my teeth in a big hiss and I herd a whimper from behind me, I turned around to see a small, black kitten hiding in the bush. As I moved forward towards the kitten I saw the fear in her eyes and I stopped, "it's okay young kit," I purred, "I won't hurt you." The kit stepped forward and looked at me.
"Y-your not?" She stammered nervously. I nodded my head and the small little kitten took a few more steps forward. "Why are you in Shadowclan territory?" She asked me sounding a bit more curious.
"I'm looking for a friend," I began. "He ran away and he never came back. Say, what's your name young kit?"
"My name is Hawk, I am an outcast of Shadowclan." She mewed. I stared at her sadly and asked "why". Hawk stared at me for a moment then sighed, "They said they couldn't have a runt in their clan so they were going to kill me or throw me in the woods to starve. They decided to starve me and make me suffer, just because I was a small kitten.
I shook my head, "that is aweful, if you like you can join me on my quest to find a friend if you like?" I asked politly to the young black kit. I just could'nt leave this kit alone to die. What kind of fox hearts does shadowclan think they are? The kit took awhile to think about it but, he nodded his head and agreed to come with me on my journey to find Jayfeather.
"Hey," a voice hissed from behind me, "what are you doing on Shadowclan territory?" Hawk jump and I turned around to see Waterflame, a white she-cat with ginger spots. Most likely on patrol. "answer me tresspasser!" she snapped.
Once I noticed I hadnt answered her i spoke aloud, "I am Scarshadow, medicine cat of Thunderclan, Jayfeather has gone missing and I came to look for him." I hoped it sounded convincing since it was the truth but, she was looking strait to Hawk. I took a step towrd Hawk and looked at Waterflame in the eye to show her I was no threat. She obviously knew that but wanted to give me a hard time getting through.
"Looking for a lost medicine cat, eh?" She snickered. "Likley story, a pregnant medicine cat, right." She rolled her eyes and walked around me her tail in my face. I growled and bit it. She jumped and glared at me. "What are you doing with the Shadowclan kit?" She asked.
"Oh." I said sarcasticly, "You mean the kit you abandond and left for dead!" I snarled to the mischievous she-cat.
"He is a runt," she mewed, "Was my half-brother but, we don't need small cats getting in the way at camp. wasn't going to make it anyway, you better leave before I make you leave." She spiked up her fur to make herself look bigger.
I nodded to the cat and nudged Hawk forward, going in the direction away from the snippy she-cat. As we walked I caught a scent... Danger, Jayfeather was in danger!
