Did Elisha think that she was the only one who was crying about their argument? Did she think that it was easy for him?

Adam sighed shakily. No matter how much he tried, his tears never stopped falling from his eyes. Why is she so unaffected when it came to him? Why can't she love him as much as he did? Why does she like playing with him?

He was so pathetic. At age 30, he can't move on from his first love he'd had at age 8. God, he was almost past the calendar age, and his chances of getting married were getting lower and lower. His mother would begin pestering him to—

His phone rang. He wiped his tears and cleared his throat before answering.

"Hello?" Adam greeted.

"Oh Adam dear!" his mother greeted cheerfully. "How's my youngest son doing?"

Adam wanted to gag right now. He didn't really like his mother, but he was trying to be civil to her.

"Fine, as usual," he replied flatly. "What's with the sudden call?"

"Do you have a girlfriend?" she asked sweetly.

He pinched his nose tiredly. "I told you, mother. I am not interested with relationships."

"Adam, I know you're not gay... unless you're just hiding it. I mean you started becoming a teacher, and teachers are usually for the women—

"Mother, it doesn't mean that I am a teacher that I am leaning to the third sex!" Adam exclaimed, totally surprised with his mother's stereotyping.

Karizza Vallega laughed out loudly. "So go ahead and prove it to me! The only girl I've seen you interact with is Elisha Lopez!"

"Elisha is eight years younger than me," Adam said in defense, hiding his affections for the girl.

"When did love care about age gaps?" his mother mused. "With or without girlfriend, Adam sweetie, you're going on a blind date!"

"I am busy," Adam snapped. "And I had an ex-girlfriend, and I'm still not over her. You know about my book."

"I know, sweetie. Who knows? You might find the One."

"That one is bullcrap. Nobody believes in soulmates anymore."

"Next Friday. La Caravella. 7PM sharp. Fine dining, okay?"

Then the line went dead.

"Fuck this shit," Adam mumbled to himself.

"Hi, Mr. Vallega!" Elisha greeted Adam with a grin.

Adam's heart thudded dangerously with such a million-dollar smile from Elisha.

"I don't know why you always get yourself with detentions recently," Adam commented.

She smiled. "Do you have a girlfriend?"

He shook his head.

"Guess so. You're supposed to be the one growing old as an old geezer!" she said with a laugh.

"Can't you stop with your old geezer jokes? It's not funny! Besides, I'm your teacher, so treat me with respect," Adam snapped.

"My teacher is so rude," Elisha pouted, sitting on his lap.

He glared at her. "Get off this instant."

"I like you, sir," she whispered softly. "I can't stop thinking about you. Do you know that I've seen my baby photos with you? I didn't know that you were there! My mom told me stories about you catching me when I almost fell down from my basket!"
