He slowly opened his eyes and realized he was inside the school clinic. The nurse quickly approached him as soon as he woke up.
"Sir Vallega," the female nurse said gently. "How are you feeling?"
"My head hurts," he replied. Then he noticed that an IV was connected to the vein in his wrist.
"You were dehydrated," she informed him. "I saw the dark circles on your eyes. Haven't you been sleeping lately?"
He shook his head.
"You have to go to a psychiatrist for sleeping pills. It's really risky for you, sir."
"I guess I have to," he acquiesced with a sigh.
It was already night time. His supervisor gave him a week off, commenting that he really deserved rest. He insisted he didn't need it, but in the end, he was in his car, parked in front of Elisha's family house, drinking himself to oblivion. He had not eaten anything, so his alcohol tolerance was really low.
He wanted to be with her so badly. Just once.
With courage he had mustered, he went out of the car and rang the bell of the gate like crazy. His body was swaying due to intoxication, but he really didn't care.
"Elisha!" he slurred. "Where are you?"
Emotions of different ranges were evident in his voice. He repeated himself until Elisha went out of the house to the gate.
"Ma'am Elisha!" Elisha's nanny, Mrs. Gonzaga, called her.
"Yes?" Elisha asked curiously.
It was already midnight, and she was about to go to bed for her work the next day. Since the quarrel with Adam, she decided to give her heart a rest and focused on her work. She didn't mean to skip her grad school, but she was too upset to face Adam. She had almost given herself. Her self-respect was getting lower each time she faced him.
"A drunk person is at the gate. He's been calling your name," her nanny informed her with a curious expression.
A drunk person?
Without hesitation, she went outside the house with her nanny behind her. She was surprised to see Adam, still in his professor attire. He was still shouting her name, and he had not noticed her.
"It's already night time. I told you to go home!" their guard, Mang Toto, chided Adam.
"I don't give a fuck what time it is!" Adam sneered and slurred, almost losing his balance. "Elisha! Come here, please."
Was she supposed to smile that Adam was here, or to be mad that he had only managed to come here after a month?
But still, he made his way up to her house. She approached him, who suddenly saw her.
"Elisha!" he called her, a small smile appearing on his lips. Finally, the guard opened the gate and let Adam enter the house.
"Who's that guy, Ma'am?" the guard curiously asked.
She was about to answer the guard when Adam attacked her in a hug, almost giving her most of his weight. His head was buried in her right shoulder.
It was their position when her parents went out of the house, clad with their nightwear. Their eyes settled on Adam's figure before looking at Elisha.
"Who's that man?" Her father's voice was accusatory.
"Adam," she mouthed to her father before focusing on Adam's mumbles.
"I miss you. Please attend my classes," he pleaded with sniffles until she felt him lose consciousness.
The guard had to help her carry Adam's body to the nearest guest room with her parents behind her. When they had tucked him in, she went outside the room to face the impending doom.
