I Saw a Strange Creature Part 2

It was the most exhausting Friday ever. The weekend passed and I was headed out of the door for school. “Taylor.” My mom called out. I stopped opening the door. “Please be careful and stay away from Helena Adams.” I nodded and twisted the doorknob. As I walked, I tried to wrack my brain for details. I had vague memories of that afternoon. All I remembered was being in the library and this weird creature attacked Helena. Her cousins were surprisingly there, too. Annabeth Chase was telling me things when I thought I passed out. Everybody told me that Helena and I had an argument regarding the research project that resulted in a fight. That’s how I got cut in the head.

They also told me that there was an earthquake that afternoon and the library was greatly damaged, so it needed to be closed for repair. When I asked about Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson, nobody answered. I told them they were Helena’s cousins and the librarian claimed she didn’t see any other people there. I might have hit my head on the shelf badly that I had delusions. I knew what I saw and I knew what really happened. There’s only one way to clear this up.

But she’s not there. Helena skipped class just like that. Could there be a problem? I wanted to ask Ms. Banks but I decided otherwise. I’ll just approach her at Gym. Unfortunately, she’s not there as well. There’s no one I could ask since she didn’t have any friends. As I walked out of the school‘s gate, I saw them. Across the school was an ice cream shop and the three of them were there, sitting at the corner most part of the room. I knew I didn’t make them up! Annabeth’s there, with her blond hair and her street smart look and boyish-looking Percy with his dark brown hair. Helena’s discussing something with them and it looked like she’s mad again.

I decided to talk to her now even if her cousins were there. I crossed the street and was about to push the shop’s door when I heard a deep rumbling sound near me. I looked to my left and saw a dog. A HUGE dog. I screamed and before I could run, someone pushed me down the street. It was Percy. The dog stepped its gigantic foot on the spot where I was standing a few seconds ago. I sat up and saw Helena and Annabeth on the street, too. Helena pulled her hairclip from her hair again and it turned into her spear. “Percy!” I heard Annabeth shouted while they battle with the dog.

“Go somewhere safe, dude.” He stood up and held his pen that transformed into his sword in a second.

I hid behind a taxi parked near the school, but I could still see them. Annabeth cut the fire hydrant in front of the school in half and water shot up ten feet from the ground. Percy held out his hand towards the water as if willing it. The water attacked the dog in the face. Helena jumped on top of the dog, as it tried to regain balance, and she stabbed it using her spear. Like the first creature in the library, the dog dissolved into dust. I stood up and approached them.

“Come back to Camp, Helena.” Annabeth tried to convince her.

“We can’t fight monsters everyday, you know.” Percy commented.

I cleared my throat and the three of them looked at me. “Monsters? Can you please explain what’s happening here? Who are you people?”

“I told you he can see through it.” Percy gave me a friendly smile and said, “Dude, we’re demigods.”
