Beca:

I was currently on my way to second homeroom. It was freezing today so I just wanted to get home. On my way into the classroom I bumped into someone, I wasn't looking where I was going as I was texting Ruby.

"Omg, I'm so sorry!" Chloe rushed

"Don't worry about it, I wasn't looking where I was going" I told her

She seemed like such a sweet and caring person. Total opposite to me, I am just cocky and grumpy most the time. I can be nice when I want to be though.

"Just to remind you all, parents evening will be next week" Mr.Wills said

My parents wouldn't come but I am not complaining as I know what all the teachers would say anyway. 'She is rude and doesn't pay attention'. Heard it for the whole 2 months I have been here.

*******

I was on my way to the shop with Ruby. We have never gone to a corner store before but if I don't get a drink soon I am going to cry. All we had at home was water or some peach juice which was horrible and mum and dad didn't plan on shopping until tomorrow.

"Are you coming in?" I asked Ruby

"I'll wait here"

Great. I got out the car and headed inside the store, heading over to the drinks. When I finally found a decent drink I headed to the counter.

"Didn't think you would be in this part of town"

I looked up and seen it was Chloe. She is probably one of the few people who have a job in school. You'd think more Juniors would but they really don't.

"Why would you think that?" I smirked

"Well I have never seen you in this town before, Sorry if I assumed wrong"

"You apologize too much but you are right. I have never been to this part of town before, my family have never wanted to be in this place if I am honest" I said

She smiled weakly and scanned my drink.

"That'll be $1"

I handed her $10 since I didn't have anything smaller on me. Places I shop aren't this cheap so I didn't know.

"Keep the change" I said as I began to walk out

"Oh no Beca, it's $9" She worried

"It doesn't matter. You keep it"

I headed out before she could say no. When I got back in the car Ruby began to drive. This was the typical downtown streets of america, the ones you see in movies that are all broken down and full of drugs. While we was waiting for a train to pass I noticed a woman who looked a lot like Chloe walking into a house. It was small and a little broken down but you could tell they tried to make it look as nice as possible. Was probably the best looking one on this street and that is saying something, not trying to sound snobby or anything. I am grateful for my life and I do feel sorry for people who can't afford to buy the things that they want and I have a feeling that Chloe lived on this street and that was her mother.

When I got to school I headed to my locker to get my maths book. When I did an envelope fell out. I opened it and found $9 and a note saying 'I couldn't keep the change, thankyou for the kind gesture though'

Whyyyy. I huffed and headed to homeroom and seen Chloe sitting at a desk, right at the back so I went and sat next to her.

"You know I didn't want it back right?" I said

"Yeah but I can't keep that much!"

"It's only 9 dollars" I sighed but she still said no

"Chase. Want $9?"

Just to prove my point of not wanting it. I know people would be like, oh you could give that to the homeless. My family always do stuff for the homeless and charities. I am just wanting to prove a point here.

He nodded and thanked me, laughing.

"You are crazy" Chloe laughed

"How so? I don't need it. I have plenty more. Without sounding like a snob"

She just smiled, shaking her head and carrying on writing something in her note book. I think she was doing last minute home work. I sound weird but I Chloe seems interesting and different, I want to know more about her.

"Want to hang out one day?" I asked

I have never asked anyone that before! Oh god.

"Uh, sure. I mean if you really want to hang out with someone like me" She sighed

"What do you mean?"

"Well your family is one the richest in the world and mine are the total opposite. You wouldn't want to be seen with me Beca"

"Everyone thinks that! Just because we have a big company doesn't mean I have to hang around with people just like me and my family. I am not like that. No one ever believes me or wants to get to know me well enough just because of who I am" I huffed

I had friends but Jesse is the only one who truly knows me. I really do love that little weirdo!

"Beca I didn't mean it like that"

"It's fine. Everyone thinks that without even getting to know me. Forget I asked Chloe" I sighed, a little annoyed

I know Chloe probably didn't even mean to put it that way but so many people before have done that and it just always made me feel shit. Now I felt bad for being rude to Chloe.
