B E C A

Today was Sunday and my mum and I were just driving around. Only because Mason and my dad were being idiots and we wanted to get out of the house for a few hours.

"Do you see Mase around school much?" My mum asked

"Uh, not really. I don't ever look out for him. Why?"

"He never talks about his day and his teacher called the other day about homework not being done," She told me

I only shrugged since I didn't care.

"Ooo, go left here, please? There is a shop on the corner that sells the best drink" I said

"Fine but don't be too long. I hate this area" She sighs

I rolled my eyes but got out the car. It was the same shop that Ruby and I came to a few months back. Chloe worked here too but I doubt she would be working considering it's coming up to 9 pm.

As I walked in, I noticed a group of boys from my school. Honestly, I hated seeing people outside of school, it was just so uncomfortable and awkward. Plus they were complete idiots.

Once I had found the drink I went to pay and noticed Chloe straight away.

"Working at 9?" I said as I got to the counter

She looked up at me and smiled weakly. She looked tired and I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. I wouldn't be surprised if she has worked all week. Her parents are struggling and Chloe had no choice but to help. She shouldn't have to worry about that considering she is still in high school.

"Yeah, I finish in an hour though," She told me

"Chl-"

"It's fine Bec" She sighed, cutting me off

I only nodded, paying for my drink before saying goodbye. I can't sit by and let her work her ass off every night because her parents can't afford their house. I'm not meaning to sound rude but it isn't fair on Chloe. You can tell she is unhappy and stressed by it all and it sucks to watch a friend of mine in that situation. She just doesn't let me help and it's frustrating.

When I got in the car my mum noticed straight away that I walked out in a completely different mood.

"I know that face. What has pissed you off now?" She laughed

I smiled at my mum and how she just doesn't care about swearing. She lets me because she knows it happens all the time anyway. If I was to say it in front of my dad then I wouldn't be stepping out of my house for at least a week. He hated swearing.

"My friend Chloe is working again till 10 pm. I just don't find it fair that she has to work to help her parents out. I know this shit happens and it's just how life goes sometimes but it's still not fair considering she is still in high school and never has time for anything anymore. The minute she gets home from school she gets ready for work and works 6 or more hours every day" I ranted

"Bless her. No parent wants that for their kid and I bet her family have gone over other options a million of times but sometimes things like this need to happen. If you really feel sorry for her then talk to dad about it. You know he cares what you think. Not like I don't of course! I would love to help her family out but you know it's always your dad that has the final word on it" She told me

"Yeah I know he does but what if he doesn't want to help? He knows nothing about her and her family. It's just my opinion and how I feel about it" I sighed

"Believe it or not, dad started off the same way. His family had no money growing up so he will know what she is going through"

"There are so many negatives to this. If I tell dad and he does help, Chloe will hate me"

"Bec, I promise she won't hate you. She'll probably be annoyed because no one likes to be in that situation, making them think we feel sorry for them"

"I guess. I just don't want to stop talking to her again. She was one of my closest friends"

"Sounds like you like her more than a friend" She smirked

I only looked at her shocked. How does she even know I like girls?! I'm Bi but it's something I've not told anyone in my family. Not even Ruby!

"Oh don't give me that look of confusion. I've known longer than you have"

I laughed and shrugged. I couldn't think of a reply to that. Mums know everything I suppose.

Since it was nearly 9:30 pm, I wouldn't speak to my dad about it tonight. He is always so stressed on Sundays because he has to plan the week out and get things ready for meetings and all that shit. I always knew to stay out his way. Ruby and my mum had told him a hundred times to just get an assistant but he says he can cope.

After showering and getting everything ready for school, I finally got into bed and decided to go on my phone. Once I checked it, Chloe had texted me.

Chloe: Sorry for cutting you off earlier. I was just tired :(

Beca: don't worry about it, i could tell

Chloe: Can I ask for a favor?

Beca: of course

Chloe: Would you be able to pick me up in the morning for school? I have to finish off homework in the morning since I'm too tired to do it now. I don't want to be late

Beca: yeah that's fine :)

Chloe: Thanks Bec!

Beca: welcome

Chloe: I'm off too sleep but see you tomorrow. Goodnight x

Beca: night chlo x

*Short but I'm losing ideas and motivation for this book*
