Safaa

After a lot of pestering and petting from Mommy I stopped crying but I got a throbbing headache as an aftermath of all the hassles.

The next day Abidah tried her best to make me go with her to a friend's birthday but I refused, though I've never been to a birthday except those we celebrate at school in the hostel and it's just a crazy celebration.

I've been in bed since morning, tossing from one side of it to another and when Abidah left I felt at peace.I don't know what's more awful than my headaches, because when I'm having a headache I dislike even the screech of a door or the tapping sound the foot of someone makes when he's walking.

And I hate light.

Mommy knocked on our door before carefully walking to the bed to check up on me.

"Safaa how are you feeling?"

"Kind of better I guess" I mumbled shutting my eyes close.

"Do you need to see a doctor?" She asked checking my temperature.

"No"

"If you need anything, call me or the maid" She whispered and left.

I began having an agonising pain like someone is stabbing me on my abdomen constantly and then gradually the muscle cramps began too and then the nausea.

Why did my Tom choose today? It's supposed to be in the next two days.

The poor me can't even handle the headache talk more of another trouble..

I rushed to the bathroom and pour out the contents of my empty stomach.I have no strength left in me to walk back to the room so I layed in a fetal position in the bathroom, hoping Mommy will be back to check up on me again.Several minutes passed and there's no knock on the door so I dragged myself back to the room and then it occurred to me that I have a pain killer in my bag.

Gulping the pills down I closed my eyes and finally after lots of attempts to get a sleeping position that makes me feel the pain lesser I dozed off to sleep.

I woke up after an hour nap feeling peckish,so after having a warm shower I walked to the kitchen having some slight pains in my lower back and abdomen.

"Ma'am do you need anything?" The cook asked.

"Yes please"

"Chocolate cake?" She chirped.

"No Thank you,No sugar for now,Can I get ginger please and lemon?" I asked massaging my forehead.

"We have some in the fridge" She answered.

"Thank you,I'll make tea myself, but what's for Lunch?"

"There's fried rice and coleslaw and there's......"

"Yuck, don't even list them,I want something that's just plain, something I used to have at home" I complained almost crying.

"I don't think there's anything simple Safaa,if you want me to make it for you then I'll do that" The Cook consoled me.

"Can you make rice and beans for me please" I begged.

"Yes Ma'am"

"I'm sorry for troubling you,Am not feeling too well actually,I could've cooked it myself" I added.

"Don't worry,it's my job afterall"

"Thank you" I beamed.

I got up to make ginger tea,it helps with my cramps sometimes. It's so easy to make so I finished within some minutes but I had to wait for my "garau-garau"(rice and beans).I told her to get me lettuce, onion and tomatoes, there's no way I can eat rice and beans without those combinations. The mere thought of having garau garau made me forget I had a fight with Fadwa,it almost made me forget of my cramps too.
