[Light at the End of the Tunnel - Cheyenne Baker]

Based on this piece of artwork that my friend made

Before I met you my world was blank.

Starched,

Stiff,

Soulless.

Black and white like newspaper.

Cookie cutter people ran on conveyer belts,

Hamsters on their wheels.

In a world of sameness, you were a difference.

The light at the end of my tunnel.

Bringing me back,

Waking me up.

Making my monotone life colorful,

Chasing the perfect demons away.

With you I see the beauty in the ordinary.

Everyday objects become priceless artifacts.

Bland walls burst with bright memories,

Blinding me with color.

But our time together is less and less.

Falling into a routine,

Brains and hearts rewired.

The colors are fading,

I fear the light is going out.
