For my Grands
Bless Your Heart
It's been eight years
Since you left
But I still think that
I saw you yesterday.
Sitting where I always
Found you
In your precious garden
Working the dirt
With tired hands.
Your baggy clothes
Are dusty with pollen
Your tan arms
Are marked by thorns.
I remember playing
In the turned over dirt
Handing you
Wilted flowers
That were long past due
Still you smile at me and say
"Bless your heart"
As you turned back to
Planting your soul
