AMELIAS POV
I rushed into work because a trauma came in. I couldn't stop thinking about Derek. An older woman came in with a brain bleed from a fall. She looked familiar but I can't remember where from. Her daughter was in the waiting room. I knew who she was immediately. She was my college best friend. Before Ryan, before the drugs, alcoholism, and OD-ing. I walked over with her moms chart.
"Hi I'm Dr.Shepherd, I would like to do surgery on your mother to help her brain bleed," I said calmly.
"Dr.Shepherd? Wheres Dr.Shepherd, you're the other Dr.Shepherd," she said staring me down.
"He doesn't work here anymore, I need your consent for the surgery," I said.
"Are you serious!! You? For surgery? You're a drug addict and an alcoholic! I need a different doctor," she yelled at me. Everyone was staring, everything got silent. I froze.
"I-I will go find another doctor," I said. I felt like crying, I felt like dying in a hole.
"If you touch my mother I will sue you!" She yelled after me. I ran down the halls crying. I ran by Edwards.
"Edwards there this women with a brain bleed in room 2247 I need you to cover that and maybe for the rest of the day thank you," I said quickly.
"Dr.Shepherd what's wrong?" She asked.
"Edwards I don't have time you'll probably hear it from someone else," I said. I walked down the hall silently. Everyone kept staring. I walked past a tray and grabbed a scalpel. I went into the nearest bathroom. I looked into the mirror. I held the scalpel to my wrist.
"Don't do it Amelia, don't do it," I whispered to myself, "you're strong." I looked in the mirror. I looked down. There was a knock on the door.
"Amelia open the door please," Owen said softly. I took the scalpel and slit my wrist. My
mouth fell open.
"Ahhh oh my god!" I yelled.
"Amelia!" Owen banged on the door. I forgot he had a key and he opened the door. I froze.
"Amelia..." he started. I started crying.
"Owen it's not-" I cried harder, "it hurts." He looked shocked and mortified. "Help," I said in a small voice. He grabbed my arm and put some gauze on it. We were both silent.
"So," I said.
"So," he looked at me.
"Didn't you hear about that lady yelling at me in the hall because that was a show," I looked down.
"Is that why you did this?" He said. I looked down. She brought up my dark past that I wanted to forget. I looked at him with tears in my eyes.
"maybe..." I stared at him.
"Please don't ever do this again Amelia," he said.
"Owen, she made me feel like nothing," I cried.
"Amelia, you are everything, everything to me and your friends, who cares what she says?" he said softly and kissed the side of my head.
"She called me a drug addict Owen," I cried harder, "I've tried so hard for a new start, to be clean, and I've failed."
"No you have not," he put his arm around me.
"Can I take the day off?" I asked.
"Sure, want me to tell Edwards?" he hugged me.
"Please," I said quietly and kissed his shoulder.
"Want me to drive you home?" he said.
"I need to be by myself for a while, maybe I'll see you tomorrow," I walked out and found Maggie.
"Can you drive me home?" I asked.
"Amelia I heard what happened are you okay?" she hugged me.
"No im not can you drive me?" I asked hugging her tight. She caught a glimpse at my wrist.
"Amelia...you didn't did you?" she saw my tear stained face.
"I-I, Owen knows," I wanted to cry.
"I'll drive you home," she put her arm around me. We started walking down the hall. We ran into Mer.
"Amelia are you okay?" She pulled me into a hug.
"Yeah I'm fine! I'm so goddamn good that some bitch called me a drug addict today and I'm so unstable I tried to kill myself in a bathroom so yeah! I'm just fine!" I stormed out and Owen caught my eye. I don't see him there. Time froze. He just stared at me. I ran out the front doors.
"Amelia!!" Maggie called after me. I turned around cried. She ran at me. I hugged her tightly.
"Drive me home," I begged her.
"Yes, Mer and I are taking the day off," she said. I got in the backseat of her car and her and Mer sat in the front. I stared out the window. I burst into tears. Maggie pulled over. Her and Mer turned around. I sat up and looked at them.
"Wow I'm a mess....just keep driving please," I blew out a bunch of air and slouched down in my seat. Maggie kept driving and we finally made it back to Mer's house. I slammed Maggie's car door and walked inside. I bolted up the stairs and slammed my bedroom door. I flopped on my back on my bed. I began sobbing. This is what I do. I push everyone I love away and I make a mess of things.
MAGGIES POV
"Should we go up there?" I asked Mer.
"We should call Owen," she said.
"Let me see if I can talk to her," I said. I walked up the stairs and I could hear Amelia crying. I knocked on the door. I heard footsteps and the door unlock. I opened the door and Amelia was laying on her bed.
"Can I call Owen for you?" I asked. She rolled over. "Amelia?"
"Sure," she said it coldly. I left the door open and went downstairs. I got on the phone with Owen.
Phone conversation
M- Maggie
O- Owen
M: "Owen Amelia is really not doing well and I think you should come over"
O: "I'll definitely be over in 5 minutes"
M: "thank you so much Owen"
O: "anything for her"
OWENS POV
I rushed over the Meredith's. I got out and Maggie motioned to upstairs. I ran upstairs and saw Amelia laying on her back in bed.
"Amelia?" I said walking in. She rolled over and looked at me.
"Hi," she said quietly. She sat up and motioned for me to sit next to her. I sat next to her and put my arm around her. I rocked her in my arms and cuddled with her. I kissed her head.
"Amelia, I want you to listen to me okay?" I said softly.
"Okay," she said in a small voice.
"You're the most worthy girl I know, I love you so much and please don't listen to the woman because she's wrong because you're not a drug addict or an alcoholic, you're an amazing neuro surgeon and I love you," I said. I leaned down and kissed her. I love her so much.
