Sakura fluttered her eyes open and stared at the oddly familiar white ceiling. She felt a comfortable mattress beneath her and the light weight of something warm covering her- presumably her comforter.

She raised her eyebrow in confusion.

Wasn't she supposed to be dead? Hadn't Sasuke kill her?

'Maybe it was just a dream...' She thought to herself, though not quite believing it. It had seemed far too real to just be some dream- she could still feel the adrenaline in her system and the sweat on her forehead.

She shakily lifted the blanket off of her- still frazzled and not paying very much attention to her surroundings as she got to her feet. The feeling of the cold hardwood floor against her bare feet was both appreciated and unwelcomed. She proceeded to begin her everyday routine- Tsunade would probably be waiting for her in her office, so she had better hurry- until passing by a mirror.

Her reflection had long pink hair that reached her waist with bangs that framed her face. She was also a few inches shorter and her arms looked like twigs- not an ounce of the muscle definition she was so proud of. Her much brighter, innocent-looking emerald eyes widened and the reflection in the mirror.

It was her twelve year old self that stared back at her and she couldn't help but the scream that immediately fell from her mouth, a scream that everyone in Konoha could hear.

"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

"PFFFFFTT!!" Naruto spit out the milk he just poured into his mouth, startled by the unexpected screech.

"What the?" He questioned.

He then looked down at the carton in his hands and gave it a good one over.

"Wait a minute! Expired?!" He said in realization, as he clutched it with a tight grip

He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and threw away the expired liquid. He then began to hastily clean up the mess he made. He was thankful to whoever screamed because he would not have noticed the expiration date on the milk- and lord knows how badly that could have turned out for him later.

'What the hell?! I'm twelve years old?! How is this even possible? Is this genjutsu?'

She quickly weaved the correct hand sign and focused her chakra (which was a lot weaker than she last remembered to be) and attempted to release the genjutsu.

After a few failed attempts, she was left reeling with more questions than answers.

She took the time to scan the room- familiar knick-knacks and other décor that she recalled as part of her old room were found in their respective places. After being promoted to chunin, Sakura had redecorated and gotten rid of a lot of this old stuff after having matured with age and her experiences as a shinobi.

There was the small olive green chair tucked away near the corner that she liked to read in, she could see the small splatter of blue paint that freckled the felt-material along the left arm- from when she had spilled a paint canister when she was five. There was even a book resting on top the chair along with a red-ribbon tucked between the pages as her bookmark.

This was detail far beyond any genjutsu could fabricate- drawing from memories even she had forgotten.

She scrambled to the calendar she saw hanging above her desk, the year that read back to her confirmed the once impossible possibility.

Sakura was back in the past.

Before she could get swept away in the momentousness of her situation, she fixed her gaze on the date.

'It's January 7th. This is the day we have our teams assigned!'

She involuntarily smiled as she remembered one of her most cherished memories. Today was the day she was assigned to team second with Naruto and Sasuke.

She looked at the clock she instinctively knew to be on the eastern wall and her promptly smile fell with a rising sense of panic.

'8:30! I'm gonna be late!'

She turned to her closet and quickly put on her old genin clothes(which she supposed can't be considered old anymore). She immediately found herself disliking the short sleeves but ignored it in favour of hurrying. She tied her hidden leaf head band in her bubblegum hair and left her household at 8:32.

She arrived late which surprised not only her classmates but her teacher too. Iruka simply was shocked when she had come late. She was punctual, always showing up on time if not early.

He warned not to have it happen again and continued on.

Scanning the class she noticed the seat between Naruto and Sasuke occupied by none other then Ino who was practically drooling over the lone Uchiha survivor.

If she arrived on time like she had in the past then she would've been sitting there with her soon-to-be teammates. And she wouldn't have missed the two boys steal each others first kiss.

Though none of the girls were glaring at the blonde boy so perhaps it did not happen. She sat in the empty next to Shikamaru and sighed. If she truly was in the past she would've loved to see that again. After all, it was pretty funny.

Noticing the sigh that escaped her lips the boy next to her raised an eyebrow at the girl beside him. But he did not mention it to her.

He began to ponder as to why she seemed depressed while the teacher rambled on. Just like him the pink haired girl was not paying attention at all.

She seemed to be in her own little world. She looked so deep in thought as he then began to think of what could possibly be on her mind. There were many possibilities...

"Team 7 will consist of..." The teacher spoke.

The girl known as Sakura suddenly turned towards the teacher at the front. Fully aware and had focused all of her attention to him.

'What is it her lucky number or something?' The Nara thought.

"Sakura Haruno..."

Shikamaru's eyes widened at this.

'How did she know?'

In perfect synchronization with the teacher she whispered the names of her other two teammates as they were announced.

"Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha"

Shikamaru was dumbfounded and this was coming from a guy who had an IQ of over 200. He stared in awe at the beautiful cheery blossom haired girl beside him.

'Sakura Haruno...I'm going to keep an eye on you'

The ponytailed wearing boy thought as he stared as the girl in next to him as she smiled brightly. Making her look all the more beautiful then she already did. And he couldn't stop the smile that tugged at the corners of his lips.
