I looked in the mirror, trying to give my hair some actual volume, since I didn't have the time to curl it. I sighed, giving up and just putting my hair in a braid. It was about a week after the concert, and tonight was my first date with John. I told Laura and Penny about the date, and they wanted to help me somehow, so they had let me borrow a pair of flats. I decided to not wear a sweater for the warm august air, and wore a simple yellow dress with a belt around my upper waist. It felt a little tighter lately, but to me and my past, that was good news. I put on a white headband, and looked at my simple outfit- Yellow dress, and white belt, headband, and matching flats. I finally finished with my charm bracelet, which I wore every other day, but it still meant something to me.

The hours ticked by slowly, as I waited for what seemed like days. I remembered John clearing stating he'll meet me at my house at noon, and this waiting made me somewhat frustrated and very worried at the same time. I wondered where he was and was just about to pick up the phone and call his house, till the phone rang.

"Hello?" I picked up the phone hastily, hoping for some good news.

"Hey, aren't you supposed on your date," Laura asked me on the phone. I laughed, realizing it was a good voice. The relief washed over me, yet I still felt the frustration of being impatient.

"Yes," I started somewhat sourly. "But John has not given me any notice what-so-ever!" I could almost hear her agitation and eyes rolling over the phone, making me smile.

"I'm very happy for you Cristina, but he is known to be somewhat of a trouble maker," She warned me, for about the seventh time. Today.

"I'm very aware Laura," I said with a sigh. "But I already said yes and there's nothing you and I could do about it!" I could hear her nod, since her chin hit the phone.

"Well look," She said. "Tomorrow, it'll be me, you, and Penny, all out to eat, and you can tell us about everything, okay?"

"Alright Laura I won't forget--" I then heard the doorbell ring, and I almost jumped from surprise. "I gotta go, I'll see you tomorrow, bye!" I didn't her anything from her side of the phone because of the speed I put the phone back into place, while nearly sprinting to the door. I threw it open, breathing somewhat heavily. I got my focusback and realized something.

No one was there.

I looked around, and turned down to see a note with a flower. I picked it up, and went back inside my house, putting the flower on the counter while opening the note. It only had three words on it, but the words shocked me.

I love you.

I stared at the note, reading the words over and over, barely understanding anything about the note.

Who?

Where?

Why?

WHY?

I put the note on the counter, suddenly feeling light headed. I was about to finally give up, till the phone rang again. "Hello," I asked, slightly weaker than earlier. "Hey Cristina, it seems I forgot to call you," a voice said into the phone. "May I ask who's calling," I asked into the phone, not recognizing the voice. "Oh sorry, but it's George, from the restaurant about two weeks ago, remember?" I took a moment, till I remembered it. I remembered how much younger George looked, making me smile.

"Oh yeah! Why'd you decide to call today," I asked him into the phone, while twisting the cord between my fingers. "Well, my friend John is having a party in a coupe of days, I think you met him, and I was wondering if you would come with me... As friends," George rushed the last part, obviously very nervous.
